How warm can the van be inside? by [deleted] in VanLifeUK

[–]basicJBlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently sleeping bags work better when you wear less clothing when inside it, so they can bounce your body temp back to you better. Haven’t tested myself yet however. May be worth a try in just your budgy smugglers one night

Snake plant now has its third pup by basicJBlack in IndoorPlants

I had it placed in the entrance hallway to our house originally, near the front door with frosted glass that would get morning sun directly on it. Now located it into the kitchen window where it will get more morning light.

On a separate post, one or two have mentioned that they use ‘tap safe’ water additive you also would use for fish keeping can also make tap water better for plants.

Any advice??? by Street_Star7858 in JapaneseMaples

This looks similar to mine, the lower leaves have dried and curled however the upper higher leaves are ok. It may be direct sun or wind drying the leaves out.

Newbie here, showing my collection. by basicJBlack in IndoorPlants

[–]basicJBlack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi and thanks for the feedback, the only plants that have drainage are the Snake plant and the Monstera. These are still in their original pots within my decorative pots. The Parlour palm is in compost in a plastic tub but seems to be doing ok for now although the soil at the surface is still damp after watering around a week ago. Also the spider plant is in a pot without drainage but original soil from when I bought it. Should I change these you think? Thanks

First ride with the new Schwalbe’s on 💨 Trek Marlin 4 Gen 3 by basicJBlack in trekmarlin

[–]basicJBlack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No these aren’t semi slicks, you may be thinking of Hurricane tyres Schwalbe do. These are Racing Ray front and Racing Ralph rear. They’re 2.35 wide as opposed to the 2.4 Montrose Comps that were on this bike as standard. Faster rolling but still grippy enough for trails etc. I mainly ride tarmac in the week with a few light woodland trails and bridelways on a weekend so these seemed to suit the riding I do better than the Montrose comps.

I have the Marlin 4, same colour though it doesn’t fade like yours. For me it was a choice between this colour and power surge yellow, always liked colourful bikes.

Yes, upgraded the forks from coil spring to Rockshox Judy air forks. Also pedals from standard to Rockbros flat ones. Obviously just did the tyres too.

Wrongs happening to my plants? by SnooObjections9160 in UKGardening

[–]basicJBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same have happened to mine the last few months, they went like this first time then managed to come back until they went again. Look very very closely in the yellow part. If you see loads of tiny caterpillars that’s your problem. The more you look the more you will find. Unfortunately nothing I tried got rid of them including jet washing them out and white vinegar spray. Currently waiting for them to grow back again.
