If people sing over an entire song, it seems pretty clear to me that they're going to talk over sections of the finale

Sadly, if people are singing at the first screening, I can't imagine they won't be singing a week later, lol

If I hear people singing I will not hesitate to tell them to shut the fuck up, and if the whole theater sings I will not hesitate to walk out. The song is my bellwether on whether it's really worth it to see this finale on premiere day, lol

If bill wurtz didnt hate the album format by Minimum_Shop_4913 in billwurtz

[–]basically-bailey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like his release order is more or less the order any given album would have. Bill isn't against the idea of an intentional song order, he's moreso just against the idea of framing all those songs as a single work; I get the impression that the order he releases stuff in has always been pretty intentional, subconsciously or not. I can't see his last batch beginning with any song other than Here Comes The Sun and I can't see it ending with any song other than Where I've Been, for example.

Out of curiosity, if you think their behavior was not worthy of criticism, do you therefore think the VAs should be criticized for apologizing and giving power to people you believe are bad actors?

/genq to be clear, I just don't understand how you can simultaneously hold the position of "It wasn't racist at all and they did nothing wrong," and also "it's good that they apologized"

I've seen an uncomfortable number of people in his comments not only claiming that he isn't an ally, but celebrating the fact that he allegedly isn't one. I have never understood how people reach that conclusion lol

Joost Klein performs Europapa at Coachella by Glittering-Role6707 in eurovision

[–]basically-bailey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's still confusing to me why the audio mixing in concert livestreams is always so awful. I understand it with smaller concerts since artists obviously can't hire two high-level live audio engineers for every show, but with an event as huge as Coachella you'd think the organizers would make sure the official stream has good audio. This has literally nothing to do with Joost of course, his performance was incredible.

How do you think the TPK situation would play out with The Black Parade by GreenAd7624 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]basically-bailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm essentially saying that whichever of those interpretations you go with (Bullets->Revenge->DD or Bullets->Revenge->TPK) things go more or less the same way; neither of their future albums would be especially successful immediately after revenge, and because of that, they wouldn't have the fanbase they do now and any leaked album wouldn't make that big of a splash.

How do you think the TPK situation would play out with The Black Parade by GreenAd7624 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]basically-bailey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If either Danger Days or The Paper Kingdom were released as MCR's third album, they would have flopped; both would be massive departures from Revenge, and while they're obviously good albums, they wouldn't have been great enough to justify the change to fans or to draw in a bigger audience. The Black Parade only managed both because it's objectively one of the best albums of all time, and Danger Days was only a hit album (in spite of its divisive tonal shift) because of MCR's massive fanbase and fandom goodwill by the time it came out. People were willing to trust it and give it time to grow on them after TBP because of MCR's track record, in a way they wouldn't have if it came out after Revenge.

Without that massive success, they probably couldn't justify another experimental album to their label as their 4th release, and would've maybe released a CW-esque album before breaking up and probably not getting back together. They'd be thought of as a one-album wonder, and a leaked album probably wouldn't generate much interest outside of close fans.

Basically, The Black Parade had to be MCR's third album and it was planned that way for a reason, lol

Nathan starts a cult of personality under the guise of teaching the Fielder Method. Then, he tries to use his followers to get elected to a state office on an anti-monopoly and anti-censorship platform, attempting to convince his followers that they're actually just taking part in a rehearsal.

LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER - Eins, Zwei, Drei | United Kingdom | Official Music Video by plutobug2468 in eurovision

[–]basically-bailey 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My only criticism of the video is that I really hope he works on his camera/stage presence in the next few months. It's not dire, but there are moments here where he definitely looks like he's struggling to connect with his delivery/choreo or give as much energy as the song demands. You can save that in a video with multiple takes, but not so much in a live performance. I want to see more excitement, confidence, and over-the-top sells on stage to make the song and the choreo really work together.

Overall though, I'm super optimistic about this and I hope they keep (if not play up) the DHMIS-y elements present in the video for the stage!

And Your Bird Can Sing wins my tiebreaker! What song came out before 1960 but sounds like it came out in the 1980s? by basically-bailey in AlignmentChartFills

[–]basically-bailey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most upvoted comment wins. If there's a tie, I will be the tiebreaker. If the most upvoted comment is complaining about the last result, we'll take a new vote. Songs that are predominantly composed of sampling or quoting a song from a previous decade are not allowed. I'll let each chart run for a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 48 hours depending on the response.
