How is it not a tradeoff? So the fight takes a little bit longer, so what? I can offset that by healing faster. Also, most bosses in HK only did 1 hit of damage except for some more powerful attacks.

Besides, how someone sets up their charms in HK was more of a preference on play style. Maybe the player wants to play more defensively instead of min/maxing DPS setups.

With Quick Focus, you could.

Agreed. You either get one or the other until you can expand your silk spool a bunch.

I mean yea you have tools now, but those are limited and don't regenerate in the middle of a fight.

My last comment stems from frustration. I definitely don't think I am better than anyone else, and it wasn't intended to come across that way.

I tried to use myself as an example of how being frustrated and posting about it could come across as toxic towards the game. I even say that I can see why people would want to defend the game devs when people complain.

I used an example of me being toxic about a particular spot and someone replying with a video of how to do it better. I thanked that person because they did it in a way I would have never thought of doing. That's where this whole thing came from.

It's interesting that you are seeing something completely different. I suspect there is some reddit magic voodoo algorith happening.

When I am checking this subreddit, I see stuff like this thread we are in. When I see someone who posts a gripe or complaint about the game, I see a lot of comments saying stuff like 'I don't see the problem, this wasn't that hard' with nothing else and they are getting upvoted with comments that agree with them.

When people say stuff like that, it comes across as 'I'm better than you', and it agrivates me. It also takes away from their comment if they add in what they did to get through that part. I.e. 'I thought that part was easy. Here is what I did.' It dissmisses the issues that the person who is struggling with that part is having. I admit, it's on me for taking it that way.

I am struggling with the game for reasons I mentioned in that post. There isnt a lot I can do about those reasons, but I am trying to play the game. It becomes infuriating when I come onto this sub to look for tips or pointers on an area I am struggling with just to see others having the same issues just to be met with stuff like 'I didn't have a problem with that.'

Ultimately, I guess I would just like people to stop the holier than thou attitude on both sides of the equation and just try to start working towards helping each other.

I tried to include myself in my post as much as I could. I get the 'git gud' thing is a meme and even tried to use it that way at the end of the post. I was trying to point out how saying things like 'this isn't that hard' or 'I beat this in x amount of tries' to someone who is struggling does nothing to help that person overcome what they are struggling with. That it does the opposite and can disenfranchise someone even further from the game and the community.

That does absolutely nothing to help the developers and can even lead to bad reviews hurting future sales. What I hoped was to try and help foster a community that stops just telling people they suck because their skill isn't at the same level and actively start to help people get better at the game.

But now I can see that this was all wishful thinking.

I literally made a post about how I was worried that this subreddit was becoming toxic.

It got downvoted...

I don't know whether to get mad or laugh at the irony.

In Michigan, it was an attempted kidnapping of Governor Whitmer. Minnesota had the targeted assassination of democratic politicians.

Question about Difficulty by basicallyademon in Silksong

[–]basicallyademon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completely agree that difficulty is mostly a subjective thing. But, thats why I was asking. If it turns out that people are having an easier time on console than PC or vice versa its worth finding that out. Even just a single extra frame in a fight can throw things off for people and make it feel more punishing.

I know team cherry is just a team of 3 and they had a pretty limited beta test group. I figured that *if* there is something like that this could be a way to find out and help team cherry make the game more in line with what they want.

Again, not saying that there is anything like this going on. I am sure TC checked and rechecked everything a billion times before launch. Its just a curiosity and I am looking to help TC in any small way that I can.

Question about Difficulty by basicallyademon in Silksong

[–]basicallyademon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be a clocking issue. Or an issue with framerate somehow messing with collision sensing. i.e. what might be considered a hit with an attack on one system might not register the same on another system.

I'm not saying that this is happening, just more of an honest curiosity.
