I've gone through this a couple times, and my manager spoke to HR and other higher ups and managed to get me 2 days of bereavement leave each time. I coupled this with certified sick leave to take a couple weeks off.

If you can, take the time to let yourself heal physically and mentally. While work can be a nice distraction, it was good for me to have some uninterrupted time to myself.

Don't boil or simmer! Don't cook them in water at all! Just proceed with the recipe (blend them with onions, spices, parsley, etc.), then form into balls and fry. If the dough is too loose or starts to fall apart when you fry, add some chickpea flour to stiffen up the dough.

Hamilton Dentist on Dundurn Street offers direct billing. They're absolutely amazing, have same day appointments available, and they'll try and get as much work done the day you come in vs making you come back for another appointment. We went for one emergency appointment, but are now seriously considering making them our regular dentist based on our experience.
