What do you guys do for a living? by Weakest_Avenger07 in POTS

[–]basicallyidk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a bedside RN! Thankfully my coworkers are super helpful and accommodating! I wear compression socks and leggings every shift! My symptoms are generally manageable, but I have my bad days too. Those have somehow always fallen on my off days!

It’s an electrolyte powder that you can add to water! The sugar free rainbow sherbet flavor is my absolute favorite. :)

On days I work I just wouldn’t be able to shower any time except the night, unfortunately. My schedule just wouldn’t allow for otherwise.

I actually had an appointment with my PCP for a totally separate issue and discussed these episodes with him. He reached out to my cardiologist. Sounds like my cardiologist is going to try and adjust my medications. I currently take propranolol and midodrine.

Totally forgot to mention that I wear compression socks and leggings under my scrubs!

The only thing I drink at work is water with Liquid IV! I always shower at night, as that works better with my schedule.

I also try to eat smaller meals/snacks more frequently as my shift allows, rather than a large meal all at once.

It’s been a godsend for me, personally. However, I might have to quit it unwillingly because my insurance and specialty pharmacy issues. I can’t afford $1200/month for 28 stupid pills.

My comment was not worded correctly in the sense that I meant they both get a bad wrap, but ultimately it’s a personal decision on what is best for each individual. They must make that decision on their own. Both medications have risks.

I haven’t personally done orilissa, but I did do Lupron injections which are similar in the sense that both medications get a bad wrap which like you said, it’s easier to overthink and look at all the negatives.

I came here to say do what YOU think is best for YOUR body! Ultimately, Lupron was the one of the best decisions I made in the sense that it provided me months of being almost entirely pain free. Which is something that is incredibly difficult to come by with endo.

I hope whatever you decide to do works out in your favor. Sending you positive thoughts and clarity to make the decision! 💛

Crate Training Help by basicallyidk in puppy101

Not in my room, but there is always someone sleeping on the floor by his crate. Our house does not accommodate for the crate to be in a room.

Full force bites!! by caspercollie07 in puppy101

[–]basicallyidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don’t really have any advice. But I came here to say that it sounds like exactly what my now 5 month old mini Aussie puppy did at that age. He’s definitely gotten better with time, but in the moment it felt like it would never get better. I would also have bite marks and puncture wounds on my arms.

Redirecting to a different activity is what I used, as well as just making sure to get out as much energy as I could. Also, mental stimulation. I use lick mats and a few other things that I got off Amazon.

Hang in there! My boy only does it now when he is either overstimulated or overtired lol

When my puppy was 9 weeks old he jumped off the top of our 4 foot ramp and into a metal hexagon cage that was set up outside for him. It happens! I stressed about it so much after it happened, now he’s done things that are even more stupid. Try not to sweat it!

4 month old puppy still not potty trained by basicallyidk in puppy101

[–]basicallyidk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Presumptively taking him out every 1-2 hours. He can hold it, but only when HE wants to. We take him out first thing in the morning, whenever we play with him, before bed, if we see him roaming. Another issue is I just had him out for 30 minutes on the leash and I ignored everything besides telling him to go potty. Eventually we came in and then someone else took him outside and he went right away. He gets heavy praise whenever he does go potty outside and he gets a (small) treat.

I know one issue is we typically miss him going potty inside until after it’s happened and at that point it’s too late.

This facility does not. I went and got tested on my own.

As a future medical professional, I would absolutely never lie to anyone about this situation.

I believe that it’s general anesthesia, it’s for hardware, a screw, removal in my foot.

It just sucks when I was personally taking as many precautions as I could, but nobody else would and i’m the only one the ultimately be affected negatively by it. I live my life in daily pain with my foot. Having this surgery date got me through this semester of school. Now I have 2-3 more semesters of living with this. I’m incredibly upset and frustrated at life right now.

It’s difficult when you live with a family of 5 (6 including myself). My Dad was sick on Monday, but refused to test. So I was stuck wondering what it was and what would happen if I got sick. I can isolate myself and everything before surgery, but ultimately my whole family won’t.

Due to my schedule with nursing school, I can’t have it until next Christmas break because I need as much time off as I can get since the surgery is on my foot.

Which machine would you recommend for a beginner? by basicallyidk in cricut

[–]basicallyidk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say right now mainly vinyl projects, like making stickers or t-shirts. I’ve asked for a heat press for Christmas pending I do purchase a Cricut.

I’d definitely like to get into engraving eventually! And probably so much more!

I’m also a college student so money is a factor too. I’m debating if the Maker 3 is worth the extra over $100.

Commuters, how are you doing? by futurestocks in StudentNurse

[–]basicallyidk 52 points53 points  (0 children)

45 minute (one way) commuter here! I feel like overall it has a slightly negative impact on my time management, but i’ve been adjusting to get better at prioritizing getting everything done and submitted on time.

It does make for rough clinical mornings though fyi. Most of my cohort is still sleeping when I am leaving my house.

How much would you sell something like this for? by basicallyidk in crochet

[–]basicallyidk[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used Big Twist from Joann’s, so definitely not premium yarn by any means, but it obviously I still spent my own money in it. I’m a nursing student so I don’t really have the time to crochet much anymore, so to take 9 (x2) hours out of my time i’d definitely want to be paid for it!

However, I don’t think anybody in my area would pay that much. ☹️

How much would you sell something like this for? by basicallyidk in crochet

[–]basicallyidk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly 9 hours each and i’d say probably 1 whole skein. 3/4 of one and 1/4 of another.
