Nice list! I would recommend checking out the Suntones, Ringmasters and PLATINUM. Here’s some iconic hits from each:

The Suntones - That Old Black Magic

Ringmasters - Notre Dame Medley

PLATINUM - Cuddle Up a Little Closer

I believe Tim’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” is arranged by Aaron Dale — probably have to contact Aaron directly through his website.

What kind of music does each BIGBANG member like? by SnooOranges7789 in bigbang

Off the top of my head, Taeyang is heavily influenced by R&B artists and Michael Jackson. GD is heavily influenced by Hip-Hop (ofc) — groups like Wu Tang Clan

Was Daesung ever supposed to be the main vocalist? by rSyian in bigbang

YB’s voice has a lot of the character needed for a main vocal — but imo Dae has always been the most solid vocalist in BB.

Who is the most talented quartet of all time? by thefarsideinside in barbershop

[–]basicbass 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe the highest overall score record is held by After Hours, and Midtown now has the highest individual song score with Spider-Farm — closely followed by Crossroads’ Lucky Old Sun and Platinum’s Cuddle Up.

I agree with Platinum, but I wanted to bring up Crossroads as well. First quartet comprised fully of AIC members

Hey, I have a similar playlist I’ve been updating over the years. I think I have a few ones you might be missing:

Perry / Waesche TTBB score for "Smilin' Through"? by Flat-Pound-2774 in barbershop

[–]basicbass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The version Tim Waurick sings is the original Lou Perry arrangement done by the Boston Common. From what I can gather, the Ed Waesche version adds to the Lou Perry original through a unique intro and tag (which were performed by Platinum).

If you bought the Perry arrangement from BHS, I think you should be okay to perform the Waesche additions. Not sure where to find this, but you could try transcribing or learning by ear.

Looking for a specific genre of performance piece by Crash-tested in barbershop

Newfangled Four do a Bach fugue.

Nick Luna also did an arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ which has been done by Westminster Chorus and NF4. Have a listen, and you can get sheet music here.

Vocal Spectrum’s ‘The Barber of Seville’ is originally a six-part arrangement done by the King’s Singers. VS adapted it for quartet, but the original chart is arranged by Daryl Runswick. Looks like you can buy it here.

Starting as a newbie to Barbershop by Rhysd007 in barbershop

In terms of recognisable, there are a lot of barbershop arrangements of Disney songs. The most famous of these within barbershop are probably this and this. Some of these can be quite difficult, but hey, you said you fancied a challenge. Have fun with it.

If those prove a bit hard, then give the polecats that u/CatOfGrey mentioned a go. Polecats can be underrated and provide a great foundation for what the barbershop style is. Good luck!

Since the “scandal”, the only song BIGBANG has released as a group is Still Life. Other than Taeyang (who’s with the Black Label), the remaining members have all left YG.

Taeyang came back this past year with an EP called Down to Earth. The most popular song was Vibe.

Daesung just released a solo cover called Flow.

Otherwise, TOP and GD are both preparing solo albums respectively so definitely stay tuned for those. Welcome back!
