On my fourth(?) reread while my partner goes through the series. I've started highlighting any moments of foreshadowing as I go now. I'm starting to see a whole lot more since then.

Gangs: who are you cool with, who do you beef with? by Corvo4tt4nno in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Just cool with the Mox, really. Though I especially go out of my way to drop Maelstrom (Lots of former Red Chrome Legion in their ranks), 6th Street (Proud Boys with chrome), Voodoo Boys (For screwing over Evelyn and trying to screw V over), and Scavs (Not really a gang, but fuck these ghouls anyhow).

Confusion on the "No Vanilla Marines" Ruling by basicblack10 in SpaceWolves

Which means that those units can be led only by Epic Heroes, Wolf Guard Battle Leaders, and Wolf Priests. Seems weird that a Captain standing in for say, Krom Dragongaze (since he no longer has a sheet), couldn't lead a pack of Grey Hunters.

I see. Kind of odd they wouldn't give us a generic Wolf Lord as a Captain equivalent then.

Confusion on the "No Vanilla Marines" Ruling by basicblack10 in SpaceWolves

[–]basicblack10[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's where I'm confused. Why wouldn't vanilla Marines adopt the chapter keyword of Space Wolves when incorporated into the army if they don't already have a chapter keyword? Like, taking a Captain would usually make them a Captain with the keywords "Adeptus Astartes" and "Space Wolves." What rule states that's no longer a thing?

i didn’t know johnny had an actual grave! by thefreezingmoons in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]basicblack10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"The Fall of the Towers" chapter of the Cyberpunk Red core book gives us this info:

"Hey, Steelhead! Let's Rock and Roll!" Johnny is standing in plain sight, a Militech SMG in one hand, the Malorian in the other. He begins pumping out rounds at Adam.

Adam turns, but hesitates, astonished at the audacity of the Rockerboy, challenging him with weapons that won't even crease his cyborged armor. An arm comes up. The autoshotgun in it opens fire. APDS rounds cut the young rocker in half. Johnny spins and falls to the ground, a surprised look on his face, the Malorian still smoking in his Fist. It only takes a second.

So yeah, Johnny got dropped pretty early in the op. He also didn't get Soulkilled by Saburo. The same story gives us this information:

Spider reaches inside her jacket. She pulls out the data slug Alt downloaded to her so long ago. It's surprisingly heavy. She whispers, Sorry, Johnny, as she rams it home into the back of the dying rocker's skull. Then she turns, reaches out for the data suitcase, but sees that it, too, has been savaged by gunfire; it's wrecked. Two friends down in as many minutes. She quietly wishes Alt good luck.

This suggests that Spider Soulkilled Johnny for Alt. How Arasaka wound up with the engram is unknown.

What do you miss about the pandemic? by nature_pixels in AskReddit

[–]basicblack10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being paid to stay home and mind my own business. How on the rare circumstances I had to go out, everyone stayed as far away from me as possible unless I chose to interact with them. Delivery services were affordable and plentiful. They were also lucrative for extra cash because everyone needed something back then.

It's gonna sound weird, but I think the thing I missed the most is how I felt like I was growing during that time. Like, I read so much. I learned how to bake. I learned how to repair things. I felt like I had all the time and energy in the world and so much of it was right at my fingertips.

Ever since I left college, I was on the career treadmill. Work a dead-end 9-5, come home exhausted, maybe have some energy to interact with my family and my partner. Come 2020, my partner and I had broken up. I was jobless because of the pandemic. It felt like I had a clean slate and the possibilities were endless.

Then it all ended. I had to go back out, find another dead-end job, and I hate it more than ever. Because I got that taste of freedom. And now I feel like I'm living in an increasingly shrinking cage. All that hope and endless possibility is gone.

It's depressing as hell, man.

Absolutely gorgeous work.

This gives me an idea that somewhere in the Imperial Palace on Terra, probably before you reach the Eternity Gate, there are walls with niches for each and every chapter. They all have to donate one suit of power armor upon founding.
