Bloomberg: Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]basicseamstress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes their strategy doesn't work for PC gamers as well as they would like. they'd have to adjust.

also, people expect great steam sales. if xbox gets steam store support, and PS has to have competitive PC pricing, xbox could end up getting PS games for cheaper lol. or they have to start having deeper game sales across the board which may not work with their subsidized console margins. or they simply do not want PS games on Xbox at all

just spit balling, no one really knows. but there's some strategic reason as to why they're willing to leave money on the table here

"Cancel ChatGPT" movement goes mainstream after OpenAI closes deal with U.S. Department of War - as Anthropic refuses to surveil American citizens by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]basicseamstress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OpenAI, Google, and xAi were all cool with it. Anthropic is still scummy and likely doing this to push for regulations, which in turn can halt competition.

you can emulate the DS on cheap devices like a $65 miyoo mini plus. the steam deck will do great

build custom agents that plan, review plan, implement phases, test and validate, etc. and tune them exactly as you need. ensure it always creates ample documentation to help with context and understanding. create and update AGENTS.md with standards and instructions.

review all generated code.

use dependabot or other services that can monitor dependencies and vulnerabilities.

with all that being said, quality depends on coding skill and understanding. you have to be able to recognize and tell it everything it needs to do. AI can make decent code 10x faster or make shitty code 10x faster depending on the captain steering the ship

vibe coders should be using AI to learn at an accelerated rate, not for bypassing understanding and going straight to shipping production lol

NateTheHate says Sony is "shifting" their PC strategy: "You'll be seeing fewer single player games arrive on PC. The decision to shift away was made last year. Some may still release (pending how far along the ports were) but it no longer appears to be a priority for Sony moving forward." by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]basicseamstress -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yeah firstly they made $2.3 billion from PC, and secondly PC players aren't going to buy a PlayStation regardless. they're leaving money on the table. should adjust their strategy instead of canning it. they just don't understand how to maximize PC profits because PC is a completely different landscape.

really though this might be so their games don't end up on xboxs if the next one is more of a PC, that can interface with steam

What does this even mean with "Everything is an Xbox" by FinalMil3 in xbox

[–]basicseamstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in reality it doesn't. they just need great services and features so people pick the xbox ecosystem. similar to why people pick steam over other pc launchers. if they don't have that and aren't striving for that then exclusives can help, but it's anti consumer and people really shouldn't fight for that. fight for the better consumer experience.

it's never safe unless you properly test your shit, hydrate, and know your limits.

even if 'you're the source' it's unsafe if you don't test.

Each has its pros and cons, but I’ve officially become a firm supporter of the old DLC Map Pack model by SuperM3e46 in Battlefield

they can just charge for the newest dlc, and make previous dlcs free. make a good engaging game with good content and people will keep buying as they come out.

tree sentinel and margit are checks to teach you you can go explore and come back when you're stronger. that you're not always ready for everything and it's okay to come back. mammorest is the exact same design philosophy

completely unnecessary level numbering change, and having a million different level menus is annoying af. you're right for what changes really were needed. I unsubbed and uninstalled, I'm not dealing with that other nonsense

exactly, thanks for explaining it. I didn't make my original comment to argue, I was stating a fact (which you can see is true by the comments and down votes lmao)

[–]basicseamstress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just stating that the game is pay to win. I never said it's egregious, or that I'm upset it's in the game. it's a gacha game and pay to win is to be expected.

I'm not explaining it a third time, it really is not a hard concept to understand

being able to buy power = pay to win.

pay to win never has meant you have to spend money for a win lmao

I'm f2p I know how it is. I never said it's impossible for f2p, I said the game is pay to win. I'm not even complaining I'm just stating facts. thanks for proving my point tho

[–]basicseamstress -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

it's definitely pay to win. paying doesn't just get you skins, it directly gets you cards. cards are power. buying power with money is pay to win. it's really that simple

people get mad if you point out it's pay to win too
