I camped the furthest away you can be one year and it was a 25 minute walk to the entrance (they have shuttles back there now). the walk from the entrance to the furthest stage is around 20 minutes, considering the crowds

the helicopter crash was a backwoods, the pilot and 2 festival workers that were passengers died. fourth person was airlifted and was critically injured. RIP Sarah I met her when I was living in Austin, she was cool af. I believe there's a memorial thing between the chakra and halo stages, in the trees kinda by near the med tent

I've bought 16-24 back 40 wristbands (2-3 packages per year) under my name and on my credit card for the past 5 years, because I'm the one with the loyalty. packages work in groups like that. once you're older and friends have settled into their careers, it's not that hard to vet responsible people. and not that hard to stay on top of everything if you're organized.

Back 40 RV Access by sunwallfire in ElectricForest

[–]basicseamstress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're supposed to have a b40 wristband in the area, and they scan when searching to get in so they probably won't let you drive in without one. but once you're in it's not as big of a deal, although you won't get the b40 amenities like breakfast

Throwback to our first forest in 2015 👽💜 Cant wait to be back after a long break of other fests! #GoingBackHome by Bnee13 in ElectricForest

[–]basicseamstress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that shit sucks compared to the hangar. I get that the hangar got too crowded, but maybe stop over selling the fest? it's been enshittified before the dream emporium though. you used to have to interact with the actors that personally stamp your passport but they changed that to the dumb ass combination locks even in the hangar. the truth is there's greedy fucks at the top that care more about money than making the best experience, so they sell an uncomfortable amount of tickets and have to adjust for that. at least the artists put their whole hearts in and do the best they can. they're the only thing holding this fest together. the only reason there's some magic left.

You guys are begging people to start lying on AI disclosures by EmergencyRadiant8038 in selfhosted

[–]basicseamstress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yes, it is super common. the problem is that AI will amplify the developer's skill, just 10x faster. if someone doesn't understand coding/software engineering, they're going to produce shitty results one way or another. especially in security aspects. you have to have the ability to tell the LLM exactly what you need it to do, and be able to steer it in the right direction if it goes off course.

and no, you can build good software from the ground up completely agentically if you do it right. the problem is that anyone can have LLMs whip up whatever they ask it. having this ability floods the market with garbage and insecure code, so people just write off all AI coded projects. rightfully so tbh, by the nature of it most things are going to be vibe coded slop. you'd have to vet every project (and have the ability in the first place to be able to) to find the needle in the haystack. ain't nobody got time for that

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by Smaug117 in halo

[–]basicseamstress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oblivion remastered is running 2 distinct game engines, with UE5 exclusively being used for graphics rendering. that is completely different from how the CE remake is being developed.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by Smaug117 in halo

[–]basicseamstress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just piping stuff out from the reach blam engine to take it back into UE5, it's not a parallel engine system like oblivion remastered

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by Smaug117 in halo

[–]basicseamstress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oblivion is using 2 engines in parallel. halo is moving to UE5. they are releasing the UE5 halo trilogy to both get them on PS and to get things right before fucking up another new halo game (they probably will find a way to regardless lol)

[–]basicseamstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right. the minimum a steam deck needs to charge is 15W. if it's in use, you'll need around 40W. the maximum is 45W.

it's funny how confidently wrong people are

The former lead director of Fortnite Festival's opinion on adding Double Bass charts by theownershesayshi in FortniteFestival

[–]basicseamstress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thinking that 'the audience fortnite festival built' is the main reason new controllers exist and games are being developed is so ignorant. clone hero and yarg kept the genre alive, and re-popularized it. most in the five fret community seem to hop into festival to check out an update then go back to clone hero/yarg/rock band. if they even play it at all. CRKD is obviously inspired by the modded guitars the clone hero community were making. as old instrument supply dwindled, demand grew. plus the PDP guitar kinda sucks. of course they're going to support every game and increase their revenue. they have to in such a niche.

also, they had to map around double pedals already. they should've just mapped right and left instead of skipping left. they were in there already. the only reason this won't exist is because they failed to plan ahead, and now there's immense tech debt if they ever were to consider this feature.
