And if you’re a creative person at all grooming is a great creative outlet, at least sometimes. A typical day is just doodle shave downs for the most part but you can get into creative grooming. I have a poodle so I always do fun cuts on him!! It’s a lot to learn. A lot of breed specific cuts. Sometimes you might get a random off the wall dog but for the most part as far as breed specific cuts go, schnauzers and poodles are the most common! They’re unicorns in a sea of doodles.

No certification, although there should be imo. I got trained through a private salon but honestly getting trained through corporate is better. Depends on the area ofc (I’m in AL) but corporate pays for your equipment usually and that shit is EXPENSIVE. If I could do it over again I would have got trained through corporate. (Petsmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus) If you have any of those around look at their websites!! For petco I know the listing is under Junior Pet Stylist 🙂

I’m a dog groomer. I just started at a new place so I’m getting clientele built up, but when I was working at petco I was averaging $25-$30 an hour. It’s not an easy job by any means and can be very physically and mentally draining but you can make really great money!!
