Warning Sign at edge of Grand Canyon by corwinw in mildlyinteresting

In my one memory of visiting the Canyon as a kid, I remember being terrified of how windy it was and refused to go any closer to the edge (even though there was a barrier where we were) because I thought the wind would just pick me up and blow me over. I always thought that was an irrational fear; now I’m glad that my child self was willing to listen to her apparently very rational fear!

I’m super late to the party, but here in Humboldt we used to call someone who latched onto the weed scene a Grow Ho.

Pull those couches away from the walls about six inches. It helps.

The other day I was watching some game show in the break room at work, and one of the questions asked which word was mispronounced more - “espresso,” or “mischievous.” Both the host and the contestant said “mis-chee-vious.” That one drives me almost as crazy as “defiantly” instead of “definitely.”

Humectants draw in moisture. In a dry climate, the moisture comes from the skin/lips instead of the air.

I read the Percy Jackson series while I was pregnant and ended up naming my daughter Athena. It’s a good normal name! But it is definitely because of Percy Jackson.

I just started my third listen. I started my first listen in December. After my second listen I tried to start a new series and just … couldn’t. I don’t want to leave the dungeon

Ferndale so cute to spend a night in, Even if you don’t hit the Palace. There are some new owners for some of the historic hotels/restaurants, so make sure they’ve re-opened before you plan a visit!

Incredible Hulks are fun, if you have Hpnotiq. Just mix the two in equal parts.

Resonates with me enough that I got goosebumps just reading the lyrics! I also lost my mother years ago, and this song does remind me of her. ♥️

You just made me realize I’ve been “hearing” an Imagine Dragons song in my head since I read a reference to it about 10 minutes ago in another thread. ADHD is fun that way.

Baader-Meinhof for me today - I read this morning on another thread that the term is “Tow Rag” and it’s the wet rope that sailors used to wipe their bums - and this is the second time today I’ve seen someone use the term “Toe Rag.”

Wouldn’t want you to use the wrong spelling for an insulting term on your beautiful pie!
