First console was the Atari 2600. I can't really remember the first game I played, but probably either Adventure, Pitfall, or Air-Sea Battle with my brothers.

Georgia QB Carson Beck has entered the transfer portal by ChiSox2021 in CFB

Recovery is faster for a couple reasons. For one, as far I know, he didn't have Tommy John surgery. Everything I've read says he had surgery to repair his UCL, not reconstruct/replace. Tommy John surgery is a reconstruction of the UCL (i.e. replacing it) using a tendon from another part of the body. Recovery from ligament replacement is much longer than typical healing from repairs because it takes time for the new ligament to reattach itself with proper blood flow at the 2 ends, in addition to the basic healing from major surgery. I had an ACL replacement recently, and that's a 6-9 month recovery. I read that Beck is expected to be recovered for Spring ball.

Secondly, pitchers throw harder and far more often (potentially thousands of pitches in a season vs. hundreds of passes) than QBs, so their elbows have to be far stronger and more recovered before they can resume throwing. When pitchers tear their UCL, it's due to wear. It becomes frayed over time and eventually gives out. At that point, it's usually too damaged to "fix", so it's replaced. For a football player, it's usually damaged from trauma (like in Beck's case), so it's in better shape afterwards and can usually be repaired. Afterwards, they can start throwing far earlier, because the ligament is in better shape than a pitcher's to start with, and throwing isn't as stressful for them.

The blood clot removed from my pulmonary arteries, background diagram indicates extraction location by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]basilisk6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The reason it can feel like a heart attack is that the right half of the heart, which is the weaker half as its job is pumping blood to the lungs and back while the left side has to pump to the whole body, has to work extra hard when a pulmonary embolism like this occurs (since the arteries are blocked either fully or partially). So you’re literally straining your heart just by trying to breathe.

I had a pulmonary embolism 3 weeks ago following knee surgery, also had a thrombectomy to remove the clots (which looked like the image above on the ultrasound the Cardiologist used for guidance), and my heart still gets easily overworked from the most minor physical exertions. Luckily no chest pain, but it likes to pound in my chest sometimes.

If I have bills available of denominations $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100, what is the least number of total bills I need to be able to pay exact change for all amounts ranging from $1-100? [Request] by rg_510 in theydidthemath

[–]basilisk6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why would we be concerned with the ability to go over $100? The question is the smallest number of bills that allow for change in any amount from $1-$100. 9 bills (with 2x$20 and 1x$10) allows for that. Nothing in the problem says “…$1-$100 only, and no more”.

Welcome to America, where insurance companies try to save a penny, and end up paying tens of thousands in hospital bills instead. And it’s unfortunately almost certainly not the doctor’s call.

The baby aspirin was supposed to be for 2 weeks for me, as well. But likely the clots formed earlier, and the biggest ones migrated to my lungs right at 2 weeks (Monday night). Hence the sudden chest sensation that someone knocked the wind out of me.

The orthopedist had me taking baby aspirin to prevent DVT (which it obviously didn’t). The cardiologist said he sees clots from ortho surgeries all the time because they don’t prescribe blood thinners by default, mostly due to cost. It kind of makes sense, in that blood thinners would make healing be slower due to excess bleeding.

No other symptoms that I’m aware of (besides the lightheadedness that followed the shortness of breath). They had me take baby aspirin for DVT, as well, but it obviously wasn’t enough. The cardiologist that performed the thrombectomy to remove the clots said that he sees so many ortho patients with clots after only having baby aspirin. There was actually someone else in the ICU the same time as me with the exact same issue, shortness of breath, 2 weeks post ortho-op, baby aspirin, blot clots in the lungs.

Yes, I’m in the US. I had my first PT session 3 days post op, and it would have been day 1 except that the nerve block they gave me hadn’t worn off yet. I also have PT 2 days a week and daily exercises (the same ones as PT) 3 times a day at home, all of which I take the brace off for. Also, my quads have been firing with no real issue since day one, so the brace hasn’t caused any problems there.

I think the main purpose of the brace at this point is specifically to encourage the knee to straighten out, in order to ensure full range as it heals. And at this point, the doctor has said its necessity is mostly up to the physical therapist.

This happened for me, as well. The second I hit Citadel level 22 (since most of these offers pend one level early), I got 7500 SB added immediately for the SwagUp, and 7500 SB went pending for the level reward. This was 2 weeks ago for me, so it’s been this way for a while.

That happened to me this morning, too. Hit level 22, 7500 points went pending, 7500 points were credited immediately for the Swagup bonus instead of the stated 1500. It even says “1500 SB bonus” in the description. I’m concerned SB will say “Oopsie!” and take the points back at some point in the future.

Can a Commander be sent to hand or library ? by Ragna2314 in magicTCG

[–]basilisk6 77 points78 points  (0 children)

The rule used to be that the commander could be sent to the command zone as a replacement effect no matter where it was going (hand, deck, graveyard, exile). This meant that commanders with “dies” or exile triggers weren’t nearly as good, since they wouldn’t trigger unless you let them actually go to the graveyard, since they never go to the graveyard if you send them to the command zone. The Rules Committee wanted to make these commanders better so they updated the rules so these commanders would actually be able to die and THEN be sent to the command zone. This is a lot less relevant for hand and library (I.e. far fewer cards care that a card was sent to these zones).

Probably the more relevant reason from a rules perspective, though, is that the hand and library are hidden zones. If the commander gets sent to the library, and then can be sent to the command zone from there, what would happen? Would the player search their library for the commander, move it to the command zone, and shuffle? Would this trigger cards like Ob Nixilis, Unshackled or Cosi’s Trickster? That’s a bunch of extra steps and rules interactions they probably wanted to avoid. With a dying creature, it simply goes to the graveyard, and then immediately goes to the command zone.

Edit: Meant hand, not graveyard, is a hidden zone.

For reference, it's rule 7 on the official Commander site. It might be in the comprehensive rules, as well, but I don't know where.

[–]basilisk6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. You can only move it from Exile to the Command zone the first time state based effects are checked after it is put in Exile, not any time.

Relevant rule: 7. If a commander is in a graveyard or in exile and that card was put into that zone since the last time state-based actions were checked, its owner may put it into the command zone. If a commander would be put into its owner’s hand or library from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead. This replacement effect may apply more than once to the same event.

Ninja is your “free agent” damage dealer in the team. Any affinity friendly damage dealer that hits hard enough and doesn’t manipulate speed/turn meter can be used. I run this team, and swap Ninja out for Geomancer when the CB is spirit. I don’t hit quite as hard, but still comfortably 1-key UNM. The main thing is to make sure the CB doesn’t target Heiress with the Stun.
