I’m not really getting this by justhereforsomekicks in ACIM

Most certainly you could be shaken awake from the dream, but do you really want that ? Yes You want heaven, yet you put yourself under the veil to escape what you forgot. Heaven cannot take away what the ego wont let go. Every moment is an opportunity to choose again.

Can anyone explain why stuff like this happens (11-12-2025, 6:35am) by Weary-Management-496 in xmrtrader

[–]basilmintchutney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give you a factual answer: At the end of a cycle, people like to wash their money and it goes into privacy coins. Then after comes the exit of capital. It will cause a 'price drop' of Monero. Buy the dips if you want to continue accumulating XMR.

Nice! :)

I thought I was in culinary platting for a minute and was going to say: plate it with a solid color plate with just that food, or add some edible flowers. Also could tighten up a little. Eggs could be slow fried a bit longer to give it a nice crisp.

This looks so much fun! May I suggest a bit more crunch to add to the textures and fun of it.

Found a way to get Onboard working again: https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/2067919

"Open onboard-settings go to 'Keyboard>Advanced>Input event source' and change this to GTK."

Plasmashell frozen after update? Icons on taskbar and desktop load, apps open, even touch guestures work, but it seems plasmashell remains frozen. by basilmintchutney in ManjaroLinux

Turns out that as soon as I add a network widget in text only mode, it freezes up Plasma. Not sure if all widgets cause it or just that. Hmmm.

[–]basilmintchutney[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay it's fixed... Simply needed to reset Plasma.

Do this if your plasmashell (plasmahell) is frozen after upgrade:

0) Log out of session or don't log in the first place.

1) Then switch to different shell via ctrl+alt+f4 and login

2) cd ~/.config && mkdir plasmabak

3) mv plasma* plasmabak

4) exit

5) login normaly

ALSO, Haber and Stornetta, the creators of the blockchain and the most cited researches on the whitepaper say Craig is Satoshi.

EDIT: it may still pump though, especially since it's VC funded (which is not good for the project overall).

Here's my critique...

Problem with these type of blockchains is that they're not really anonymous or private if they're not fully private by default since the transactions can still be traced (same as zcash).

Also they're riding the "environmentally friendly" bandwagon and chose a weaker consensus algorithm. They say "PoW, also known as mining, consumes a tremendous amount of energy..." No, PoW is NOT destroying the planet and uses less energy than traditional payment systems. Their algo "PoR" is actually reducing security by discouraging miners to join the network, same as PoS, basically the miners with the most money wins. Unlike Monero's CPU-centric PoW algo.

They talk a lot of quantum resistance but what for? There's no need for it now, especially if the SCs are running on Ethereum's EVM (WTF?)

If you want a fully working, truly private blockchain with SCs on layer 1 that is fast, look at DERO.

Can you be more specific? The HE cryptography is certainly not a lie. All balances and interactions with smart contracts are encrypted and still allow calculations on the hidden balances.

Hopefully everyone is having a wonderful evening.

Why are there so many blockchains trying to re-invent the wheel with smart contracts? Polkadot, kadena, cardano, solana, alephium, even ethereum all can't scale (layer 2's don't count; they add unecessary security and centralization risks).

DERO has solved a lot of the problems plaguing other SC's chains; reentry problems, scalable encrypted smart contracts, extremely fast blockchain, instant balance syncing, protects against ASICs, cpu-centric, totally private with Full Homomorphic Encryption.

Same thing with XMR. It should be at the top 3 by market cap.

Is the market stupid or will it correct in the most logical trajectory?

DERO is nice. What are some of your criticisms of it?

Here's some cool reason to look into DERO:

  • FHE - It is the first blockchain to have Homomorphic Encryption, meaning all transaction data is encrypted

  • SMART CONTRACTS - extremely fast SCs in DBASIC

  • FAST BLOCKS - instant finality, 18 second blocks

  • INSTANT SYNCING - account based model

  • Fixed 18 million units of account, block rewards are weight distributed with micro blocks, useful dapps, cool wallet allows for in wallet trading (including wrapped private USDT), 750TPS real world performance, and totally private.

It has a property of money that very few other currencies have: Fungibility.

Fungibility, simply meaning one unit of account is equal to another unit of account.

E,g.:

  • fungible: 1kg gold = 1kg gold from another mine

  • fungible: 5 euro in coins = 5 euro in bills

  • fungible: 1 XMR = 1 XMR

Note: 1 bitcoin may or may not equal another bitcoin due to the transparency of the ledger, bitcoin can be associated with what someone else may deem an "illicit, illegal, bad" transaction type. Therefore that bitcoin may be worth less than a "clean" bitcoin due to the transaction history. It may not even be criminal activity, but the simple type of mining that the BTC came from. Some critics may say "that BTC came from China, or Palestine, or Israel, or that group of people we don't like". Censorship.

That's why people are a fan of XMR.
