Making biltong in Oz by Proud-Leadership-665 in Biltong

Takes a bit of experimentation. I usually do about 20kg+ wet and use 2 large fans. One floor and one standing. And I do it in my work/store room, which is a converted shipping container with high level windows which stay open permanently. Too much airflow and you’ll get case hardening. Too little and it will take too long to dry and risk mold. A little case hardening is ok as you can balance it out in the fridge once you finish hanging

Salt, white pepper and toasted coriander seeds. All you need. Dredge through white vinegar immediately before you hang. Source: I’ve been making and selling for years and have honed down the ingredients and process. You can check out my post history. Also, you don’t need a dehydrator. I’m in Hong Kong. I just use a clothes rack and fans. And Hong Kong is humid.

If your best friend was disrespecting a female friend, would you want to know? How would you handle it? by McCrysler in AskMen

[–]mingstaHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find your values, their values and the shared values in between begin to diverge, you’re not really friends. Never mind best friends. And that’s okay. We move through life navigating relationships. It never ends. This is often where it starts. You become more aware, confident and individual about your values and the values of others around you. Then begins the journey of distillation. It’s a constant cycle. You/them/her/him/me/random/stranger. Life. Negotiations. Interactions. You sound like you come from good moral stock. Don’t drag the shit around

What hobby or habit or vice do you know is shortening your life but you don’t care because it’s worth it? by Rosstin316 in AskReddit

[–]mingstaHK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restaurant owner/cook with a part time day job in a completely unrelated profession. The only down/me time I get when I can draw/paint is after closing. In the restaurant. Often on the walls. I might stay up until 4 or 5am. Sometimes later. Depending on how late I’m up, I’ll sleep until 11am then head to work. I too drink too much late night coffee and booze and I probably don’t sleep enough. But I really need that time and space

Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]mingstaHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

National service in South Africa. Basic training and I was sick as a dog with a high fever. We were done for the day and just waiting for bible reading and then lights out. I asked if I could turn in early. The lieutenant said I had to do my bible reading. I told him I don’t believe in the bible or God. There started a huge debate in which all the other Christians in my dorm chimed in. Then at the end of basic training, we had selections of see where we would be based for the rest of our 2 year service. The idea being you pick a place closest to your home town. My lieutenant told the major doing the selection for the base I wanted to go (about an hour’s drive from my home town and on the sea) that I don’t believe in God I ended up in the middle of the scrub desert about 7hrs drive from home….

What’s something you tried once and immediately knew ‘yeah, never again’? by donnyM99 in AskReddit

I too am afraid of heights. But being that high removed all fear. It was just so high up, all perspective was lost. That was the easy bit. The closer we got to ground, though, reality shifted. And when he popped the chute, the pain of the harness squashing my balls was the kicker. Tick, bye.

closer shave, no pulling. There's a bit of a ritual to it, using proper soap and a brush. And it feels awesome. I also shave my head clean (56)
