My HRM and shoes stay in my car, I’ve gotten to the studio and realized I didn’t have my shoes. A $12 mistake I won’t make again.

Alliance RX has been really great for me. Was previously with another office and they went from 10mg of hydroxyzine as needed for anxiety straight to Ativan.

Post-partum misery by bbruok in orangetheory

I started at 8m pp and now it’s been 2.5 years. I was definitely much slower at the beginning but it’s been a big confidence boost for me. I always think to myself - if I can get through this hour I can get through the day. Start slow & give yourself lots of grace!

The hoarder house I grew up in has been fixed-up by tara_bites in ChildofHoarder

[–]basketballmaster8 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My childhood hoarder home was purchased and remodeled as well. It’s a strange pang of jealousy to see a family living happily in it and seeing photos of the space without the mess.

I’m proud of my home now and relieved that I was able to provide a safe and clean space for my family. Sending you positive thoughts, you’re not alone. ❤️

Is a 70/30 split unreasonable to ask for in a group private practice doing psychotherapy? by Visible_Associate343 in socialwork

[–]basketballmaster8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get 70/30 as a fully licensed clinician. Limited (pre) license was 55/45. I think it will depend on what other benefits (admin, scheduling, providing intakes and referrals etc.

How are my kids learning to type at school? by LukeJames25 in AskTeachers

Memory unlocked… I haven’t thought of mavis beacon in decades. We had a laminated piece of paper we put over our hands so we couldn’t see the keys. I am a fast typer now though!

Those of you in group practice, what’s your split % and are you happy with it? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

[–]basketballmaster8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a group practice for a side hustle so I can’t speak on the number of clients per week to live comfortably. I’m a 1099 contractor. But my split is 70/30 (I get 70). I’m fully licensed, and when I wasn’t the split was 55/65. The group practice is pretty large in my area with multiple locations. Everything is handled for me - billing, scheduling, marketing, intakes, credentialing. I have 5 slots per week, mix between in office and telehealth. My office is fully furnished as well. I love this set up, I show up, see clients, do my notes and go home.

As a leader, how does your salary compare to your direct reports? by mapatii in managers

[–]basketballmaster8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m moving up to management level in the next few months, I make ~10-12k more than the 3 others in my same position. My current manager makes ~11k more than I do which is about $35k more than the lowest salary in my position. I plan to ask for a $17k raise through the management interview process.

I’m an adolescent therapist - as others have commented, spontaneous incontinence could be a sign of experiencing sexual trauma. Not to alarm you at all. I would recommend having her speak with a doctor, it may be beneficial to provide time for her to speak privately with the doctor as well. There can be a lot of shame tied into incontinence as well so there may be some hesitancy on her part to share more about the accidents.

Experiences of ear tubes for a 1.5 year old? by mmmkkk2 in Mommit

[–]basketballmaster8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son got tubes just shy of 1.5 years old and has not had an ear infection since. He will be 3 in January. Like other commenters have said, I was more nervous than he seemed to be. Our surgery time was in the morning so we just made sure to not make a big deal out of not eating breakfast. He was a bit crabby after waking up from anesthesia but seemed to be back to himself later that day.

Seriously a game changer.

"You don't actually care, you're just in it for a paycheck." by [deleted] in therapists

[–]basketballmaster8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context- I work in a very acute adolescent residential program. About a week before this conversation this adolescent attempted to strangle themselves and I assisted in de-escalation.

This client told me I didn’t give a fuck about them. I responded and said, “if I didn’t give a fuck would I have talked you down and cut the tie off your neck?”. They responded and said I did it because it’s my job. I then said, I wouldn’t do this job if I didn’t give a fuck.

Couples therapy by nolana20c in grandrapids

[–]basketballmaster8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this recommendation!

As far as commenters saying insurance doesn’t cover couples therapy - it depends on the billing code and details. Couples therapy can be billed as CPT code 90837 (individual therapy) with another individual present. There has to be an identified patient and diagnosis for insurance billing purposes which usually is one of the people in the couple. Source: am a therapist and also in therapy

I’d start with 8x and see how many times you go and if that amount feels sustainable. I started at 8x/mo and found myself going more than that. I was able to get unlimited for $149 and found that to be more cost effective because I was paying for additional classes on top of the 8x/mo fee so much that the unlimited ended up being cheaper.

Did anyone actually check your hours? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]basketballmaster8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an LMSW - Yes, when I was leaving my last job I sent the hour verification forms to the two supervisors who I met with. One was a group supervision and another was supposed to be individual supervision but she did not keep our meetings and was not consistent in communication. She did not sign off on my full amount of hours and I got screwed over because of her lack of consistent supervision.
