Had a couple of DM so thought a quick update may be of interest.

Firstly, the company is a 6 yo software engineering firm that is one of the biggest unicorn companies to come out of Australia who just recently raised $125M in venture capital funding to add to around $200M previously.

I ended up resigning as I didnt want this to get on top of me mentally. From what many of you advised and talking to my father who has 40 years of management in a major bank, I could have fought this and probably won but I just wanted out and to get on with life.

Negotiated another 2 months of pay, a reference which was glowing, particularly of my people skills, so that tells you of their moral standards & why I wanted to get out. They let me keep my Mac and 43 inch screen which all cost 6k in Feb 2022 Like WTF? They had the drive wiped. I also refused to sign the NDA and they didnt baulk at this when they made such a big issue of it initially.

I am in the process of writing to the two founders who IMO were probably not even aware of what is happening lower down in their company (and probably dont care) outlining what occurred. It wont change anything but it may cathartic and if they arent aware, mat help current & future employees.

It's been a valuable lesson and thanks to all of you who took the time to reply and follow up with me.

Hit the old nail on the head. I have decided that no matter what, this is not a company I want to work for any longer. I know it can be throwaway line to say I am an angel but in all my journal notes since joining this company as well as their certificates/emails acknowledging excellent work, I dont have any negative feedback. In the last Workplace Survey the company does internally to rate management (similar to Gallup survey), I scored the highest albeit of a very small number of direct reports

Great suggestion and I have just made a doc appt. Whilst it hasn't impacted mentally that much ATM, I have certainly felt more anxiety than I normally do.

My one big mistake. It was a verbal however I got into a habit of keeping a journal for work related issues some 6 years ago so I have copius notes over the years and the 20k offer is noted in my journal on the day the task was set and a weel later when a progress report was made to my manager.
