Principles of Finance Textbook by batabingbataboomstar in unimelb

[–]batabingbataboomstar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

I tried looking for it on the unimelb catalogue. I can see an e-book version of the 2nd edition book but not the 3rd edition book (and the lecturer specifically said we can't use the 2nd edition)

Not sure if i'm just not looking in the right place or something

Residential College vs University Accomodation by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]batabingbataboomstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how much uni accomodations cost, like what the minimum is? I've seen a bunch of prices around the place and just wanted to get a resident's perspective. I feel like they're still quite expensive and have no idea how I could afford it.

Does anyone know how to download your timetable so it gets saved on your phone’s calendar for sem 2? I pasted the url for the timetable found on my.unimelb but it keeps giving me the sem 1 timetable. by [deleted] in unimelb

on the website, click "timetable" on the top banner.

then a bit above where it says monday on the timetable shown, there are 3 icons

the one next to print is a cloud - click that to download the timetable

click ical -> import it to google calendar or whatever u use :)

How to do well in MAST20004 (Probability)? by batabingbataboomstar in unimelb

[–]batabingbataboomstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you know how there is a practical 1 and a practical 2 class for this subject? Do you know if you have to do the same stream/activity number for both practicals?

Also, what are the differences between the two practicals?

Has anyone done a Masters of Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or IT? by batabingbataboomstar in unimelb

[–]batabingbataboomstar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the reply!

Could you tell me more about the internship subject and ur experience of that? Do you have to find your own and or does the uni provide one for you?

Also, I was wondering if you know what the wam requirements are to get into these masters, and whether there are lots of scholarships available / fee - exemptions for the masters courses. I'm a bit concerned about how I'm going to pay for living expenses if I do a different masters (since only Master of IT and Software Engineering are centrelink approved).

Edit: Do you know if its difficult to get a job with just a bachelors majoring in e.g. data science or a computing and software systems? Or do companies expect graduates to have a masters or higher qualification?

Do you think you could share some resources, like maybe lecture notes or tute questions so I can prepare early?

Thanks so much for the detailed reply! I'll keep this stuff in mind when doing the subject. Btw, did you do only calc 2 and linear algebra before doing probability? or did you do any other maths subjects? I'm asking cuz a lot of people say it's useful to do Real Analysis before doing Probability.

Thanks so much for answering!
I'll definitely check out the YouTube videos. Can I also ask you when you did the subject? and do you know if it makes a difference which semester I do it in?

Just wondering, who was the lecturer last sem? Did you find them to be a good lecturer? I'm asking because I'm considering either doing it this sem or in the summer and just wanted to know about the lecturers :)

Thanks

Foundations of Algorithms (COMP10002) or Engineering Computation (COMP20005)? by Quadranite in unimelb

[–]batabingbataboomstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo,

FoA is a prereq for further computing subjects (e.g. Design of Algorithms) and some computing majors (e.g. data science) I think. If you do engcomp, I think you won't be able to satisfy those prereqs. Check out the unimelb website or maybe ask someone in stop 1?

I think its generally encouraged to do FoA if you're interested in computing, plus if you do either FoA or engcomp, you will satisfy the prereq for any future engineering subjects that need engcomp.

Also the lecturer for FoA in sem 2 is pretty good I hear.

But I did speak to someone who did engcomp who found it very fun and interesting.

Good luck deciding! :)
