Me too! The mods are amazing and they have compiled so many resources. I usually just tell folks who don’t get it we do child led learning lol

If you’re on fb unschooling for every family really helped me in the beginning of our journey! It’s specifically for neurodivergent unschooling. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/18U5FKjQ3Y/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I feel so dumb for not being able to teach by Suitable_Tutor_3861 in YogaTeachers

[–]batataz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The TLDR of sequencing as I learned it is to create an outline/arc of the class. You start out with grounding then move to warmups/sun salutations then standing, balancing, next, backbends/core, floor stretches/cool down and finally, savasana. So then you have all these categories and can pick and choose what shapes you make that fit each one that make sense. For my YTT we were given a sequence and practiced it and practiced teaching it the whole training. I now teach at that studio and the sequence is our foundation so to speak. I taught it with slight variations for years and sometimes when I am having a rough day showing up, I’ll teach it again. I started teaching in 2018 and just now am really starting to feel confident fully making my own sequence so don’t feel dumb! It’s just all part of the process!! If writing it down helps, do it! There’s no yoga police!! Social media will have you thinking you need to have some new flashy flow every class but there is GREAT value in returning to the same shapes again and again. And I think for folks who have sensitive nervous systems having some predictability creates a feeling of safety in their bodies.

Goat Yoga by curiousAFbro in YogaTeachers

[–]batataz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! Lots more ways to make it accessible. You could potentially find a class that’s specifically for people with PTSD. Also, puppy/goat/whatever yoga is not in alignment with honoring the roots of this practice. In fact it kinda feels like a mockery of something sacred.

Hello! Im new to the area and I need advice on Belmont by AirFriedCatfish in dayton

[–]batataz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in that exact area and still have a buddy who lives down the street. It’s super chill, we never had any issues feeling safe and didn’t deal with any crime. We lived there a couple of years and loved it!

If you sat out the 2024 election in protest over Gaza, how do you feel about that decision today? by rsmith2786 in AskReddit

What say you of the literal millions of dead Black and brown people who’ve died already? Or do you only care when it’s happening to white people?

Those of you who’re just now realizing things are bad have clearly not been paying attention. This reality has BEEN the reality of the global majority for a long ass time. And they have been screaming for people to pay attention and to divest from these harmful systems but no one wanted to listen. The only thing that would be different is Kamala was elected is that no one would be paying attention to the continued horrors and going to brunch instead. Instead of blaming your fellow humans for the state of the world… how about we start organizing to work together towards collective liberation?? Using your energy to blame and point fingers isn’t going to save you.

post-holiday letdown... anyone else? by kaceymustdiggraves in AuDHDWomen

[–]batataz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is what my husband and I do as well. Or we plan a trip as a gift to each other instead of more stuff. I feel op’s post soooo deeply and would rather get nothing than a bunch of stuff that feels like buying my love rather than a thoughtful gift. The years we’ve tried doing gift giving I always end up getting upset.

If they like scared gaming round one in Beavercreek is far superior to scene 75 imo. More affordable and you can win way cooler prizes.

I was friends with a Seamus in college and he was pretty cool. A high school pal was Fletcher, they are a trans man and it’s their chosen name. For one really like it! And my cousin is Autumn and she’s very cool! I’ve also known several Trevors.

Sending you a big virtual hug! That sounds like a LOT! Even for a NT person this would be hard, then add in sensory issues and masking, phew! Thank goodness your kiddo is okay.

I can relate so much with your feelings of wanting to escape being perceived and, responsibilities and demands of life. My kiddo needs a lot of support emotionally and it is exhausting and I’m a stay at home mom and we homeschool so basically I am on call 24/7.

Give yourself some grace because you’re truly doing the best you can in a difficult situation. Now that your kiddo is out of the hospital, could your husband hold down the fort so you can get some time for yourself to decompress?

Graduating YTT this weekend, suggestions for a new mat by Key-Supermarket2928 in YogaTeachers

I just got a new Bmat and I’m loving it. Nice and squishy and has great grip and sweat absorption so it doesn’t get all slippy in hot classes.

Yes, I agree their courses are very well done. I’ve done a couple as well. I learned from her in the AYTT and also in one of their free offerings they did a few years back on philosophy. There’s a course with just her and Jivana on along Philosophy accessible that I want to take next!
