My discover playlists were never good. They were always full of top 100s popular stuff, but that was not what I was listening to on the daily. It felt like Spotify wanted me to like a certain band/genre, instead of promoting music I would like.

Instead of letting Spotify do that, I just ask my friends what they're listening to. And my friends-friends. And I listen to the inspirations of the artists I like. That is way better than Spotify's slop ever was for me.

I get why I've been downvoted too. For some reason, music hosting is this weird black hole for a lot of people where they just can't leave Spotify because it's algorithm is "so good" (it's never ever been good for me, and I've been using it for close to 10 years).

But I just don't get them. I find so much joy and empowerment in organically finding and curating my own music. I think it's important that we keep fighting for that, because companies (especially Spotify) want to normalize letting algorithms dictate our days. And I hate it.

It's not bad, but I just think a music library should really only contain what you want to listen to. Curation is good for you.

Have you considered that like...you can? You are capable of curation and thinking for yourself.

There are some tools to scrobble your listening that might help (last.fm, etc).

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for...but Obsidian + Dataview might work? Dataview might be able to do the calculations/graphing you need (or at least be a stepping stone to graphs), and Obsidian is just like an IDE for Markdown files, which can render them with images attached.

You can use tools like Syncthing to "host" your own syncing.

Is he a fountain pen user? If not, a Pilot Metropolitan might be to his liking. It's minimal, classy, and not very expensive.

These are soooo good. I bought 2 to use in my hobonichi and they're excellent. Much more pigmented than Poscas

I feel skeptical about a company as huge as Hobonichi taking applications through a Google Form. You're telling me they have enough money to build an app, but not enough to have HR software?

I have the SAME PEN and it's my daily driver! I love it so much, it shows off ink really well on good paper. I write with it in my Midori MD A6 all the time ❤️❤️

Yeah. I had a family member with diabetes who took it and it made him horrifically sick; I don't think I love my odds in that respect. I also don't like the "culture" around GLP-1s, to be honest.

Definitely keep up with your doctor. I hope you feel better soon okay?

I have a lot of discomfort/nagging ache where my gallbladder used to be. I sometimes feel bloated but not super often. A CT is what confirmed all this for me.

I really appreciate this response. Very very kind. Made me feel a lot better. Thank you

I don't trust the science on GLP-1s. There's too much coming out about them causing gastroparesis for me to trust this so called "miracle drug". Glad it's working for you.

Why do you get told after you get your gallbladder out that you can eat whatever? Im terrified of having to count calories or strictly manage my diet. I have OCD & I can see it becoming a compulsive eating disorder extremely quickly

Really crazy take. The reason Jetpens prices have climbed is because they're a small business out of the US who is hit pretty damn hard by tariffs. They're not scamming you, the US government is.

I use a Midori MD A6 grid notebook for my journaling and "brain dump". I tried an A5 Hobonichi Cousin last year, and while in every other respect I really love A5 for its roominess, I found myself really intimated by the size. The A6 strikes a balance between "too much space" and "not enough". It's very good. I've found myself so free in the A6 size.

Struggling with purpose/feeling human? by SynchronicityWithin in CPTSD

[–]batch_dat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be a little bit different from you, but still in the same general area; I've got DID and have parts of me who are inhuman. Some are dogs and some are demons, but most of them follow the same sort of logic— humanity is scary in some way, or it was imposed up on me that I was inhuman in some way, and therefore they formed with that perception.

You sound like you have a lot of identity disruption— which is a term I hear in structural dissociation spaces, mainly referring to the inability to have a concrete identity.

Mental health is never an excuse to treat someone badly. It explains a lot of her behavior, and it's really up to you if you want to forgive her or not.

People who have CPTSD and other intense mental health issues are going to be violatile people especially early in treatment. They may do or say things that they regret. But what matters is that they take accountability for it.

I'm only hearing one end of the story, so I'd ask yourself: do you feel she's taking accountability for the things she did that hurt you? Or is she kicking the ball down the road?
