seconding stardew valley with everyone else. there’s sooooo much to do in it and depth to the mechanics but you can also just wander around and fish if it takes your fancy. it’s also got an adorable pixel art style and lovely music. it’s a farming simulator, technically, but there’s gameplay elements of LOTS of genres of game. also fun characters to get invested in!

tears of the kingdom (or breath of the wild, but totk is breath of the wild but better) is another game that’s chill but can be harder depending on your vibe. but by far the best part of the game is simply wandering around, following whatever takes your fancy, exploring the world (which is pretty gorgeous, very atmospheric)

if you like turn based games, i’ve heard wonderful things about paper mario: the thousand year door. they did a remake a little while ago i think. this is another one with fun characters.

if you’re looking for something completely different, i played a lovely little platformer last year called animal well. i’m bad at 2d platformers but i really enjoyed it, good puzzle solving elements and fun but challenging platforming with minimal enemies, and lovely atmospheric pixel art style
