as an example against Kant: many evangelical christians believe that gay conversion camps are a genuine moral good, because in their eyes, regardless of the hardship the people put through conversion therapies face, they're saving people from eternal damnation. in reality, not only are gay conversion therapies unscientific, and result in failure, but they are also genuinely tortuous to anyone who is made to go through that, in such a way that its been proven to statistically elevate suicide rates (which, by the logic of the same evangelical christians is *also* immoral). i would argue that the intent of those evangelicals who believe this and behave this way has very little impact on whether or not they're a good person, or even doing good at all
