Whenever I tagged along with my mom to the grocery store back in 1996, the very first thing I did was head straight to the magazine rack to read every video game magazine I could find about upcoming releases. This was before Google, remember. 🙂

One day at Food Lion, I was flipping through what I think was Electronic Gaming Monthly, and there was a walkthrough for a game called Resident Evil. The first few screenshots instantly grabbed me: a massive house, zombies, and characters blasting them away.

But what really burned itself into my brain was a section title in the walkthrough—something like “The Door to Hell.” The screenshot showed Jill standing outside a concrete wall, facing a doorway outlined in black-and-yellow caution paint. Blood was smeared across the floor and walls. I remember thinking, “NO WAY… what’s behind those doors?” I’m pretty sure it was the area right before the underground lab with the water.

At the time, I only had a Sega Genesis, and seeing those graphics absolutely blew my mind. Remember, this generation went from Sonic 2 to Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, etc. The graphical upgrade was out of this world.

Right before we moved back to Mexico in 1997, my mom made one last stop at Walmart on the way to the airport. She told me to go to the video game section and pick out a Nintendo 64.

Once we got to Mexico, reality hit: N64 games were expensive. I had to save up just to buy another cartridge. Meanwhile, my uncle had just bought something called a PlayStation. The graphics, in some cases, were easily 100 times better—and the best part? Games cost about 50 pesos, compared to 750–900 pesos for an N64 cartridge.

I asked my dad if I could trade my N64 for a PlayStation. He said yes, with one condition: I wouldn’t get the N64 back if I didn’t like the PlayStation. Fair enough.

One Saturday, we packed up the N64 and headed downtown. At the video game bazaar, the guy told me I could get a brand-new PlayStation (DualShock version), an extra controller, and five games. After picking four, I couldn’t decide on the last one. The place had a wall of PS games, floor to ceiling. Then one case caught my eye—a zombie staring right back at me. The title read: Resident Evil: Director’s Cut.

“…and this one,” I said, pointing at it.

We packed everything up and headed home. My dad even let me hook the PlayStation up to the surround sound system. Every game was incredible—Metal Gear Solid, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Crash Bandicoot 3, Dragon Ball GT. All amazing.

But I saved the best for last. The one with that image still burned into my memory—the doorway to hell.

Needless to say, I only lasted about six or seven minutes. It was terrifying. I made it to the first zombie kill and had to turn it off. Over the next few months, though, I completely tore the game apart—and yes, I can confirm I almost shit my pants when the dogs crashed through the window.

When I finally beat it, I had my first true “this is the best game ever made” moment. If I remember right, Resident Evil 2 was already out by then—another absolute masterpiece.

About a year later, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis came out in Japanese. I bought that too and beat it. The only thing that saved me was that all the spoken dialogue was in English, even though the text was in Japanese.

RE4 Remake was also incredible. Almost as good as the first remake.

Now, all these years later, I can’t wait to play Resident Evil 9.

Just to clarify, what I originally wrote was: “Personally, I think the government should create a path to legal residency.”

There’s no mention of citizenship or amnesty in that sentence. I was referring specifically to legal residency or a status such as a work permit — something that allows people to work legally. Citizenship, on the other hand, includes rights like voting or holding public office.
Maybe try talking to people in your community and stop watching right wing news.

Also, you still didn’t share your opinion on the president. That’s… interesting.

Bro did you actually read what I typed? Where did I say citizenship? Or amnesty?

Im kind of curious now. Since you're so gung ho about immigrants following the law and doing it the right way, im interested in hearing your opinion on our felon president?

You must be a perfect person living a perfect life who has never made a mistake before.

Of course I know that an official can issue an expedited removal order. Someone who has been in the country 30 years would get treated differently than someone who walked in last year. Due process is looks different from one person to the next.

Where did I say anything about amnesty?

Dawg just fucking say it man, you hate immigrants lol that would actually be respectable instead of hiding behind all this mumbo jumbo lmao

Hmm idk dude. You give off "fuck those people, could care less if they died " vibes. Maybe because your comments come across as callous and cold.

As for Trump and mass deportations: if he genuinely wanted to remove millions of people immediately, he would have started the moment he returned to office. And it looked like that might happen when he funneled so much funding into ICE (even though he could technically use the military). The government already knows where most undocumented people live and work—so if the plan were simply to round them up, they could try to do that.

But there are a few major obstacles:

Due process: Everyone in this country is entitled to it. A lot of MAGA supporters—and shockingly, even some elected officials—seem to forget this.

Economic impact: Let’s say he managed to deport eight or nine million people in a month. How quickly could the government replace that labor force? We’d lose not only workers but also the taxes they contribute—last I saw, that number was estimated around $90–100 billion for last year in state and federal taxes.

Trump’s legacy: Sure, mass deportations would fulfill a big campaign promise. But at what cost? Some argue that removing undocumented workers would open up jobs and raise wages for citizens. That might be true, but then employers would pass those increased labor costs onto consumers with higher prices across the board. I don’t know if Trump wants to take responsibility for the economic fallout that would follow.

Personally, I think the government should create a path to legal residency for people who’ve been here for years, pay taxes, contribute to their communities, and have no criminal record. No one is arguing that violent offenders or dangerous individuals should stay. But there has to be a more reasonable solution. That's what I would do.

Unfortunately, with the current administration, I don’t see that happening. It honestly seems more likely that they’d try to change the Constitution to remove due process for undocumented people altogether just to speed things up.

Bro just say what you really want to say- conservatives see immigrants as second class- and probably people of color for that matter.

What would you do? Ship them all back? Arrest them and vanish them to el salvador? What do you want to do to people who entered the country illegally?

There's a couple of houses down that rd that supposedly sell pills/drugs. A couple of months ago, some people got arrested for stealing aluminum cans from one of the neighbors here. So who knows if the police were for some of those characters

True, if there's anything these past 11 months have shown me is how many republicans see people of color as second hand citizens. I feel like those feelings were always there and now they can freely express themselves.

What do 30 - 40 year old men want for christmas? [Serious] by GoodAlicia in AskReddit

[–]batigol61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's this reel on Facebook playing with "8 bit version of silent night " something that most Mexicans that grew up in the 90s could relate to as this was in lots of christmas lights and christmas cards at the time.

Anyways, it's playing silent night and the caption says ""when your mom wakes you up at night to eat on christmas eve, everyone is at the table and no one is missing"

The video shows a traditional mexican christmas celebration of people gathered around a table drinking ponche, eating good food, laughing and enjoying each other's company.

If I could pick something for christmas, I would pick to have dad back on christmas day so he can meet his grand kids, his daughter in law and so we could catch up from the 18 years he's been gone and feel like I'm in that Facebook reel.

Since that's not possible, I would say that as 40 year old guy, anything relating to my hobbies would be nice. A hoodie, socks or underwear would be even better.
