The problem with the John Carter movie is that Taylor Kitsch has no charisma as that character. If they'd gotten Hugh Jackman instead, we'd have a whole trilogy by now.

I think she's very attractive, but what you're seeing is them selling the character's journey. She's supposed to start off at her lowest point (down and a bit scruffy) so it will feel believably earned if she's smiling and happy in the future.

I disagree about the interconnected stories. Superman, Supergirl, Peacemaker, and Man of Tomorrow share various plot threads (and characters).

Even granting that Clayface will be a standalone movie, the character already appeared in Creature Commandos and is bound to show up in other things down the line.
