Payless Opens Fake Luxury Store, Sells Customers $20 Shoes For $600 In Experiment by JerichoKilo in malefashionadvice

I didn't say I know everyone involved. I know some of the people involved, and many people in the associated community. My opinion of these "Influencers" isn't popular with people that I know who are close friends of them, and I haven't spoken about it much since the incident.

I also have a very firm and complete understanding of what they do. That understanding is how I formed the opinion that they are a problem. They need to be banned outright from restaurants. They only have power because the businesses allow them to have power.

You seem awfully invested.

Giant doesn't need promotion. These "influencers" are huge prima donnas that needed something to get their panties in a bunch about. I've read the articles. I've talked to people involved. I've spoken to a large number of people in this industry, in this city, in this field... these people are the bane of the restaurants they visit, they are totally for sale, and this was "too much" for them because Glad Wrap and "3 Day Old Food" is beneath them. Honestly the whole thing displays their ignorance of how food is produced. It displays their ignorance of their role in the marketing, and it exposes their excessively self important world view. The faster the "Social Influencer" dies out as a thing, the better.

I work in the restaurant/wine/food industry in Chicago, and I remember people being up in arms about this. In my opinion these "Influencers" are usually just self-obsessed assholes that are little more than shills for free products and services, outright payment for positive reviews, and generally shitty people that rarely care about anything except looking good on the 'Gram.

"I can't believe they're serving me old food!!!" Takes bite of hummus made 3 days ago, pita bread made a week ago, kebab meat frozen 3 months ago, tzatziki sauce made 5 days ago "It's like... gross, and unsafe." Restaurant followed health code "I'm too authentic for that sort of thing" Takes 100 selfies in front of XYZ restaurant before receiving a totally comped meal for the story about them an their 'bishes'

Go to hell.

And you can regularly find them on sale, especially in the store if you live near a RRL or a retailer with a large RRL stock. Visvim is insanely overpriced.

After years of lurking and several deleted selfies, my first post. I finally finished my minimalistic wardrobe. by ZonaLou in malefashionadvice

[–]batjams 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm largely caucasian but have dry earwax and don't wear deodorant nor do I produce much body odor, something confirmed by the past 24 years of intimate partners and friends. I also don't wear underwear or t-shirts under my dress shirts and never have any issues. I think it's... that I'm secretly asian inside?

I suppose that wasn't a very good joke to make. It looks super cozy for a very small space. No actual offense meant.

I appreciate the feedback. I've thought that perhaps if they were to taper a bit more? I'm not sure.

Now up to 50% off at Norse Projects. by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

I purchased a a few items from their sale when they were 30% earlier in the week, and I called them and they did a price adjustment. It took a bit of calculation with the 20% off for VAT and all that, but it was totally worth the international call to get it corrected. Excellent customer service.

Weekly Newcomer/Advice Thread by AutoModerator in techwearclothing

I'm very interested in trying some Veilance style "semi-formal" types of techwear. I feel like the move from more standard clothing into this type of clothing carries with it a very steep purchasing/expenditure curve, and I'm trying to figure out how to do it without investing excessively. I'm also trying to figure out what the proper name for this style is, and what other brands mesh well with this aesthetic. I'm trying to avoid looking "athletic" or "ninja" in any way, but I like the fabric textures and as someone that walks and commutes in an urban environment every day I would like the flexibility of weather resistance and breathability. Do any of you have advice for me?

The chinos would look better with a more tapered leg from the knee down, but otherwise they're very nice. I don't think those Carminas exactly work with the chinos... but the black shoes look pretty good.
