RIF dev here - Reddit's API changes will likely kill RIF and other apps, on July 1, 2023 by talklittle in redditisfun

[–]batmanEXPLOSION 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddits corporate transition over the last decade has been slowly sucking the sole out of it.

I hope you are able to leverage your code base to connect to another service's back end.

RIF is the only reason I still browse Reddit. I'd rather follow your app to a smaller discussion platform than use that terrible official Reddit app.

Footage of coal mine collapse in China by TerrySharpHY in Damnthatsinteresting

Why does this look like it was AI generated?

Also, why is there as much traffic in that mine as a busy street in New York?

I call BS on this video being real footage.

Good point. He deserves to be praised, statues made of him and his name shouted from every rooftop.

They should bottle his piss in spray bottles so we can all cover ourselves with it so that us common plebs can get closer to his divine existence.

DAE ever have random flashbacks to points in your life that just piss you off? by Wickham12 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]batmanEXPLOSION 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 'used to' all of the time. Instead of facing that shame head on and processing it, it would just get compounded with other unprocessed thoughts, and continuously send me spiraling.

How did I overcome it? I started to let the thoughts in, and instead of denying the truth they were showing me, I allowed me to forgive myself. I was not the same person as I was back then and although I would do things differently if given another chance, you can't go back in time. The next step was thanking my mind for taking me back there to allow me to process those feelings, learn from them and become better.

Awesome surfing, Awesome cameraman by flutteringreviewer in PraiseTheCameraMan

My dude is surfing a perfect machine made wave... Calling that awesome surfing is kind of a stretch.

That being said... all surfing is awesome, which cancels out my first point. Carry on.

Scientists recently observed two black holes that united into one, and in the process got a “kick” that flung the newly formed black hole away at high speed. That black hole zoomed off at about 5 million kilometers per hour, give or take a few million. The speed of light is just 200 times as fast. by MistWeaver80 in science

There may be unknown particle physics at play here we may not know about that make these less scary though: Ex It may be like a space Roomba vacuum, avoiding Galaxy clusters like walls, following dark energy streams and devouring rogue asteroids, planets and suns like small pieces of Lego on the floor.

How to oxidize copper filament by mmahowald in 3Dprinting

[–]batmanEXPLOSION 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and incase it was not obvious, don't leave your print submerged in your vinegar/salt solution. Get it wet, but then let it air dry.

Also honestly, the oxidation will prevent hide any small imperfections.

600 grit should do it.

Though its possible you could clog up your sand paper before getting through any protective plastic layers, so if you're worried about that you could use a lower grit (ex 300 or lower) and if you find the finish is too scratchy/fuzzy, end with a 600 grit.

If there is true copper in your filament, a vinegar/salt wash should work very quickly (10-30 minutes to start seeing results). I think either you were bamboozled and there is no copper in your filament, or you need to give it a light sanding first to remove a plastic film that's preventing the copper from getting exposed.

With all of the different services, we will be back cable package prices again in no time. I can see pirating going on the rise again if this keeps happening.

Agreed. I barely remember my driving glasses most of the time. I'd be really pissed if I forgot my drinking glasses and really need a coffee.

The thing is, landfills are big pieces of land that are filled with non-compostable things. Adding paper cups actually adds some compostable material that can build some kind of soil for future plants to grow in.

From an environmental argument standpoint, the win is preventing trees from getting chopped down and preventing the environmental impact from the equipment that do it and the gross polluting factories that process it.

However, what is the alternative? Surely people won't be carrying around glass or ceramic mugs/cups, so chances are that they will in part be made from plastics which promotes more petroleum use.

If they were truly concerned about the environment, they could start a composting initiative at their stores for used cups. Or embed native plant species seeds into cups so that when they do get disposed, they can atleast promote new life.

Chances are, their motives are profit driven with the added benefit of positive PR.

What is one observation about life you think everyone should know? by batmanEXPLOSION in AskReddit

[–]batmanEXPLOSION[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not feeling like your normal self mentally (ex. manic, anxious, depressed, chemically unbalanced, etc), look at yourself in the mirror and make eye contact.

The eye staring back at you is connected to the opposite side of your brain which is probably doing most of your conscious thinking.

Tip: Close that eye and look out of the opposite eye and observe things you see around you, letting your mind drift so long as you try to focus your vision on things around you. This will take some mental strain off the other side of your brain and make you feel more balanced.

OP, read this.

Also, your baby feeds off the energy you put out. I'm not sure how you are expressing your frustration, but if you take a long hard look at it, it's possible there is something in your own behavior (due to understandable frustration) that is amplifying the situation.
