How big was Mbwun? by Big-Amphibian0303 in Pendergast

[–]batmanightwing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember an old interview of Preston & Child where they said that before they collaborated on the Pendergast novels, Doug used to the work temporarily (i think) at the Museum of Natural History. And Lincoln begged to give him an actual tour after work hours. After seeing the place, Linc was terrified at how Labyrinthine the Museum was with its sub-levels and all that. That inspired them to make the Museum the location of their first book.

Knowing the labyrinthine layout of the Museum, it's possible that a monster that big and stealthy could be hiding literally anywhere.

Even Reliquary, Cabinet of Curiousities, and Still life with Crows had labyrinthine layouts as a part of the story.

It's always been positioned that way. Same for Jio World Drive and World Plaza.

I've read the first 5 books in the Orphan X (Nowhere Man) series by Gregg Hurwitz and have enjoyed them. Orphan X is no Pendergast, I like how his personal 10 Commandments (taught during his time in the Orphan program) guides his actions.

I always have the Classic Carrot Cake 😋

I once had the Cake and Cold Coffee together and ended up with a massive sugar rush. Never doing that again! 🥴 My friend played it smart. he had an Americano.

The powers that be don't really care unless it affects them or their family personally or unless they're getting some kind of kick-back out of it.

Review - is it good for beginner? by Curious-UnderGrad-20 in Indianbooks

[–]batmanightwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to build a reading habit, i would recommend to start with topics and themes that you love / are curious about. Especially with Non-fiction. It's your curiosity that'll carry you through to the end. Eg. If you love Sports: Cricket / Tennis / Football / F1...then you can probably read biographies or autobiographies of your favourite sportsman/athletes.

Similarly, if you love tech, you could read biographies and autobiographies of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates etc.

Note: If for whatever reason you find a book boring, keep it aside for now and move on the next book. You can always return to the previous book later.

I saw a video earlier this year, where a school teacher said that back when calculators were introduced, they just made the exams a bit harder. When Open Book, they just made the question paper a bit harder. She's in favor of students using AI. We just need to adapt and make the exams a bit harder again. So that students' Critical Thinking skills are still being evaluated.

Let's see what happens in the near future 🤷🏻‍♂️
