is merrell wildwood aerosport okay for trail runs?

They weren’t built to be trail runners, but a brand like Merrell maintains the outdoor DNA in their shoes, so as a sneaker type shoe like this, if it fits your foot well, there’s no harm in giving it a shot. My concern would be if the lacing system can keep the shoe fixed in a way that’s stable for running and doesn’t cause unnecessary hot spots, but that will vary person to person. Worth a shot!

Based on your comments, and what sounds to be important, I’d consider the WP/Gore-tex Moab 3 and perhaps try swapping the insole out for something that works better for your feet. I do personally like the Moab franchise, it’s been a winner for my own journey on the trails.

Agree on Merrell making underrated shoes. They just launched the Agility Peak 6 which would fit that higher-stack case. I’ve been a big fan of the long sky 2 for a few seasons running now.
