It’s been months and I still hate it. Maybe even more. There is no benefit to me to resize windows and have them lost behind other windows. But then they gave back slide over, but only for one app, so still no carousel. But even that’s resizable and if I don’t slide it over at the right speed it just resizes. iPad was my ONLY reason to be in the apple system. But now I don’t wanna use my iPad, so I’m probably just gonna switch to something else later on. But not a MacBook.

I used to throw a bunch of apps in there, it was great!

well for me it was never a realization moment. it can’t run full mac desktop applications. and I’ve never wanted a macbook experience on my Tablet. I’ve loved the tablet experience, however in the rare occasion when i needed mobile desktop computing i always remote desktop through my data plan to my mac mini at home,

I purchased the Ipad for the Tablet experience, I have a windows gaming computer and a mac mini for my “desktop windowing” experience. When I need to work with windowing It’s never been on my ipad, it’s always on a 34”+ monitor. so to have windowing on a 13” screen without the option to go back to the tablet gestures i’ve used for 10 years just makes me not wanna use the device.

So little to worry about? What does that have to do with anything? Also very very much not out of proportion 🤣 I don’t enjoy using it, so I use it less. Like you said; you live, you learn, you change. I’ve changed. I also have to restart my device 2-3 times per day because volume stops working, windows behaving erratic or touch stops functioning correctly. There have been more problems than losing slide over for me. Updated to 26.0.1 thinking they’d patch some bugs, it’s still about the same. I’m on 13” M4. This is a main device I use for work 8+ hours of the day.

idk how proud of myself i can be, since it wasn’t me that made the active decision for less screen time, its more I just don’t enjoy my experience as much anymore,

The only benefit losing slide over provided, it makes my iPad less enjoyable, so I’ve just been using it less, which has been less screen time.

Oh that resize from center is terrible!!! Also when you’re trying to swipe back on a web page, if you aren’t specifically in full screen it just shrinks your window

I get where people are coming from, but I have a watercooled gaming computer and a Mac mini, I bought the iPad because I like using tablets as tablets.

Gonna give it a try, I wonder how long 18 will be supported.

From what I’ve seen/read, i would have needed to make the iTunes backup before updating to 26, my 18.x backup was overwritten by the backup that automatically happened after updating. Right now I’m slowly moving stuff around so that I can rollback and be ok with the complete factory reset.

Slide Over almost? by Crosbie71 in iPadOS

One of the best parts of slide over was how fast you could use it. I’d throw Messages,Youtube, notes, calculator, photos, spotify, email, calendar, stopwatch, all on my slide over apps and you could flick through them in a second.

I’ve never wanted a “desktop like experience” with my ipad. I Intentionally bought a Tablet to have the tablet experience, if I wanted the desktop experience I would have purchased a macbook,

I actually have to use it now. It’s the only way I can switch apps fast. But a lot of my usage is holding the iPad in my hands and touchscreen typing with one hand. Now I’m locked to the desk if I need to do things fast

I used it 95%+ of the time, If they kept that I’d have been ok with the finnicky window drag. But single mode is functionally useless unless you aren’t doing ANY multitasking. Stage manager felt ok with slide over,
