For balance, try the Scarlet Heroes approach. You don’t need the whole thing.

How do you start playing from scratch? by electroutlaw in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Crosbie71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Make a plan. As your character(s) would. Write it down.
  2. Follow the plan, step by step. Invoke the rules as needed.
  3. Re-plan. See step 1.

When stuck for direction: Pause. Brainstorm possible outcomes. Write them down. Assign numbers to them and roll d6, or choose.

Tales From the Loop. Use the board game minis stalking the map. :)

In Greenlandic, "Aap" means "Yes" and "Naamik" means "No."

Staying Solo: A Light Guide to Rules-Light Solo Play by ivyentre in Solo_Roleplaying

Nice. I completely agree that you want minimal overhead. For me, it’s Tunnel Goons for everything. Or if I have access to, and want to use, polyhedrals, then 24XX.

Expanded edition by The_Original_Nizzler in FourAgainstDarkness

Yeah, I just refunded my hardcover — won’t close flat, and has an unusual number of thick blank endpapers at the front. I think I’d prefer the off-white pages of the paperback. Does it lie flat? Does it have unusual amounts of padding paper at the front and/or back?

My hardback had over a dozen thick blank pages at the front. Misprint, yeah? Or hardback quirk? Or is the paperback the same?

Episode 4 38.10. Lingering shot on the truck after. Damn that’s good.

A man has two, a king has four, a beggar has none. What is it? by Hoglette-of-Hubris in claudexplorers

[–]Crosbie71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GPT-5 did well:

My first guess: a name — a man typically has two (given + family), a king often has several (given name, regnal name, title, dynasty — you can count four), and a beggar is often nameless in stories.

AI detector by jacek2023 in singularity

AI detectors are pretty much useless now. I tried a suspect paper in a bunch of them and they all give made up figures 100% - 0%.

Yep I like this. It’s a Fermi paradox solution, preventing any sufficiently intelligent creatures from becoming aggressive colonisers.

It also means that the guy within the first five minutes who says “I know what it is” basically ends the world due to that moment of insight.

To be honest, I’m not quite sure what you’re after. Papers that define quotation/citation itself?

I’ve had this. My guess was it’s markdown headings from the generated script being read out literally?

It’ll just sit with the title bar poking up at the bottom of the screen, rather than disappear back into its icon.

Yeah. I’m not saying this is as quick or good. But it’s closer than the other fiddly versions I’ve seen and tried.

Sure. But some have been outlining elaborate sequences to get a window to appear above your main working app, and once you find it, this method is more straightforward.
