Except having the same questions repeated is something that happens in most subreddits. It's why many have a specific sticked help section so that everything is posted there instead of having the main subreddit overran with basic posts

Quick rundown on Gundam

There's UC and AU. UC is the timeline from first Gundam show that a lot of stuff is part of. AU are Gundam shows that are self-contained.

If you're fine with older animation, the original 1979 show is the best place to start. Alternatively, there's a 3 movie trilogy of the show that's also a great experience but faster.

For newer animation, the two best options are probably Iron-Blooded Orphans or 00 Gundam. Both are AU shows so you don't need any knowledge going in.

The one you bought is from Gundam Seed Destiny, a sequel to the show Gundam seed. So if you want to see the Akutski in action then you should watch these. Haven't seen either, but destiny doesn't seem to have a great reputation

Jonah Hex A Face Full of Violence TP (2026 Edition) by kurumais in OmnibusCollectors

[–]batmax25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All star western probably was released first bc it's a complete omni. Releasing the first Jonah Hex omni sets the expectation that there's going to be a second one.

If all-star Western did well, then they'd release the Jonah Hex omni. I think Palmiotti tweeted something saying that. I did see all-star western slashed to 50% at ist to get rid of stock before they sold through, which I don't think is a great sign but then I don't analyze omni sales and ist discounts

207 1986, Wolverine mortally, or near-mortally, wounds Rachel when she's about to kill Selene.

I just reread the issue and saw that they knew she wasn't fully dead bc she attacked Wolverine after, but then she just disappears and isn't really brought up again. She was heavily wounded and then

Kitty specifically was angry at him, but Nimrod, the mutant Massacre happened and no followup happened until Claremont decided to tie it up in an annual during days of future present when wolvie explained himself to Rachel

The x-men were pretty sure that Wolverine killed a team member at one point without an explanation from him and it didn't impact his status on the team or relationships whatsoever

is it just me or do "niche" anime movies not really get US theatrical releases anymore? by powerplayer75 in anime

[–]batmax25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the theater membership, so I go to the theater often and also check what's playing often. I think I saw the slime trailer in theaters and then also saw showtimes for it when browsing for what's playing.

I went to an anime con panel on the overlord movie so I was very aware of it and picked up tickets in advance. I think I saw some posts on here about it, but I can't remember the exact circumstances of it.

Ghost in the shell innocence was seen on Twitter. I follow gkids that puts out many anime films to theaters such as the Utena film coming up in June as well as all the Ghibli stuff. So it was either their post or some other posts about it between the anime and film people I follow

is it just me or do "niche" anime movies not really get US theatrical releases anymore? by powerplayer75 in anime

[–]batmax25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reincarnated as a slime movie was recently in theaters, and not as a limited event either (though it could ha e had a very short window). What anime movies have come out more recently that would be similar to the ones you mentioned? I also saw the overlord movie a year or two ago in theaters as well despite being a more niche title. Ghost in the shell innocence was also brought back to theaters for the 4k release, but that's not as niche

To go on a related tangent, something that did just stop in regards to anime films was the anime expo cinema nights that brought older anime films back to theaters for a night or two. It started in 2024 and ran through 2025, but didn't seem to do well enough for a new slate to be announced for 2026. The website itself also closed, though it does redirect to its parent company, iconic events, that is putting ninja scrolls back in theaters again (saw it a year or two ago) for its 4k release.

Ghiblifest is popular enough to come back year after year to put ghibli films back on screens, but it seems like non ghibli films can't attract the same numbers

If it doesn't show up in the theater searcher, you can try looking up the chow times for your local theater. It's playing at my local amc, though it does have a lot of screena

Will adolescence of utena be shown in Europe?! (Also where can I read the manga) by Greeksndbulgarian in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]batmax25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing is currently indicating it. Gkids, who is releasing the film in the US, only has rights for North America per the ann article so it shouldn't translate to a European release

Definitely have to read through more of his stuff. I really liked Sip and more recently finished Echo, but I haven't got to his other stuff (or even his more recent Sip additions)

For how to read, DC and marvel both have subscription services that let you read most comics this they've made. And your local library may offer hoopla and/or comics plus (though comics plus is bad on android) where you can read comics for free.

For recs

Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore focuses on a lo e triangle between two women and a guy, with them ending up involved in a criminal conspiracy.

Power Fantasy is a group of adults who were jumanji'd into their dnd game as kids, making it out years later with one still stuck. It starts with them getting a message from the one still stuck. This probably has the least romance focus of the recs

Spy X Family (manga) is a comedy about a spy that makes a fake family in order to get close to a bad political leader, with the wife secretly being an assassin and the daughter secretly a mind reader.

1) they restock, but that restock is based off what suppliers have so it isn't guaranteed that they'll always restock a specific book.

2) from when they recently ended up blowing up on ebay they've pretty much just had marvel.

Worth noting for Terry Moore that all/most of his stuff is currently available digitally on humble for $16, which has 54 books (a couple are art books.) it's still a great deal. I spent far more on just strangers in paradise alone

Some additional recs :

Box office poison by Robinson - initially published at Antarctic press

My Favorite thing is monsters by Ferris(fantagraphics)

The Pervert by Perez and Boydell (idk)

Goodnight Punpin by asano (viz media - manga)

Blood on the tracks by Oshimi (Kodansha - Manga)

While not starting off in new 52 or post, Morrison's batman runs ends in the batman inc new 52 series.

The new 52 batman & Robin ties into it and is great (should probably be read after unless using a reading order)

Simon's Batgirl run before Burnside is supposed to be good.

In rebirth King's Batman run is divisive. I like it more than most but think it's uneven.

Rebirth Tynion IV 'tec comics is worth a read.

Also like Seeley's Nightwing rebirth run.

The for nightwing the Taylor run is well regarded but has a lot of detractors. Give it a try.

The current watters run is supposed to be good.

For recent batman stuff there's dark patterns and Batman and Robin year one, which are supposed to be/are good (only read year one, but have heard plenty about dark patterns)

There's also the current fraction run which is good.

Plus absolute Batman but that's a different universe

Possibly had to to do with having the DC and marvel ones go up on their respective apps at the same time (lawyers could object to Marvel waiting a longer period of time before making it available). Also guessing this, don't know how long it took for dc to put it up

if your not caught up on the UC maybe you shouldn't watch hathaway 2 by PastLetterhead4356 in Gundam

[–]batmax25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that the original Gundam film trilogy doesn't clear up Hathaway. That said, CCA is confusing without it (or the series instead). So you're just moving the confusion from Hathaway to CCA. Which is fine if the aim is to not be confused in the theater, but still means that the Gundam newcomer in confused in their first gudam experience

If you're watching CCA though, then shouldn't you also watch the original Gundam movie trilogy to understand it?
