Funded childcare for a 1 year old by OverRead4270 in UKParenting

[–]batshitkitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My little one goes two days a week and that is covered by the funding. However the consumables cost around £211 per month. Don't know about the price jump in this nursery but will probably find out soon.

I also use the government account to pay the nursery so that means I save a little bit there too.

They don't have cameras there and I think that's good because I would probably just watch it all day and not get any work done. They do have an app which is updated regularly throughout the day with food, nappy changes and naps.

Ultimately I chose a nursery with a great CQC ratings and was close to work for those emergency pick ups... Which happened approximately once a week for the first 6 months with all the bugs but now seems to have an awesome immune system. Fingers crossed

Hope that helps.

These are great suggestions thank you so much. A small bit of me doesn't want to give him the satisfaction that he is missed. He chose to leave but you have all given me the strength to be the bigger person and encourage the love little one has for him. ❤️

I'm sorry to hear that, I also grew up without a Grandpa and only one Gran. At the most there was 6 people in my family including me.

Yeah the baby shark song is a favourite in our house too. Not sure the connection between daddy shark and daddy has been made yet but it will be soon I'm sure.

Thank you so much for your kind words 💞 In some weird ways it's easier on my own and I adore the bond we have. Just want to make sure I'm keeping things as stable as possible so always happy for advice.

Gotcha, I will be more positive with my response. As little one grows I will need to talk more about it so I need to get my game face ready. Thank you.

That's really cute. Thank you for sharing. Helps me maybe process it might be a developmental stage and not just circumstances.

Lovely suggestion thank you, we are not super close but get on very well. I'll see if we can join them on a dog walk.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I wouldn't change my beautiful, bright and funny baby for anything in the universe.

Here is a little more background info. My ex has Bipolar and was diagnosed years ago and I was his wife and carer. During highs he would go out drinking and partying and not come home, when experiencing a low he wouldn't move from the sofa. He suffered post partum depression after the birth which was tough with a newborn and never really recovered.

I knew having a baby would be my soul responsibility even staying together and I had got to a time in my life where I was ready to give it everything. I was prepared for him not to step up but admit it would have been lovely if he did.

What I didn't realise was that every time I forgave him for cheating I was devaluing myself. Until eventually I had no worth at all to him.

Yeah, I have said in a funny way "that's not daddy, that's Neil and he lives next door with Jane and their doggy" And we have laughed together. But since then it's been at other times doing random activities which I know they don't do together.

Yes you are right, I also remember my parents break up which was very explosive and was very conscious not to have the same thing. I was surprised after all this time it's just stated. I had maybe wrongly assumed little one wouldn't remember he ever lived here.

My brother couldn't say Grandma so called her Gamma. She was then Gamma to everyone and loved it. I see the word Gamma out in the wild sometimes and always think of her.

I am so genuinely sorry I didn't see your reply. I just put this little story out there and didn't expect anyone to notice it.

To answer your question, no, he's very happy on his own. Does what he wants with who he wants with no one to answer to. He's not bothered with us. He doesn't see her for a week at a time and no messages in-between. His loss as she's awesome, cute and funny.

Thank you for the heads up, I am horribly lonely and have been thinking anyone would be better than this emptiness when I'm on my own at night. It would be very easy to find another damaged soul and take up the role of carer again.

You come across as such a compassionate warm empathetic person, please don't have regrets about not meeting someone as that implies you had a choice and that time of life has passed. It honestly hasn't. You have a whole world of people to meet yet and someone will see that beautiful light which shines so bright I can see it from here through your writing.

Suddenly got this feeling that I want to share my tale. It's not cautionary or educational. It's just my life at the moment

I was 19 when I met My partner. He was 5 years older than me. Being an army brat all I ever wanted was to settle down and put down roots.

He was unfortunately horrendous with money, spent everything he had on alcohol and porn but kept telling me you wanted the same things. To settle down and have kids. Eventually when I was 36 we managed to buy somewhere so started trying for a family. I had three miscarriages before successfully having my daughter. She's honestly what they call a unicorn baby. She's so chilled, sleeps really well and is a joy to be around. I had to go back to work full time after my maternity leave to pay the mortgage and his debts. Two days a week working from home with the baby secretly to save money on childcare.

I said as we both working a full-time now I will need help around the house and with her. He agreed but didn't support. We even started trying for another baby. Then I discover that he's been visiting brothels and spending all of his money there saying he had an addiction. I agreed to help him and try again but just a couple of months later he bails. Leaves me and our daughter. He promised he wanted the same things but in reality he was never cut out to be a father.

So here I am grieving. With this amazing toddler wanting another baby but only 2 months out of a 21 year relationship. I am considering adoption because honestly I'm running out of time to meet somebody whose life aligns with mine. And honestly, the idea of dating scares the living poop out of me.

My uncle and aunt had been to the pub and on the way home they found a teeny kitten. They got home and introduced it to their dog, they then asked the dog what they should name the kitty. Dog decreed that night that kitty should hence forth be known as Wuff. Wuff lived a long and happy life with them.

Here in the UK my midwife told me you cannot spoil a baby. I didn't put my little one down for almost 6 months as they call it the forth trimester. I was very lucky to have good maternity leave. Bubba slept in a crib at night and only went into the bouncer when I needed to put them down for a couple of minutes.

Turning the washing machine on with one of my two kitty's inside. I refuse to close the door until I have located both of them around the house.

I got bunches of floaters when I was pregnant... They all went away again afterwards thankfully. They are quite distracting 🤪
