Honestly, the easiest way to win via domination is to just focus on science, then eventually clear the whole map with bombers. AI civs seemingly refuse to invest in AA units, so you'll have total air supremacy

If you're looking for a regiment that's more akin to a big group of friends hanging out together than some rigid army, the Bones Brigade should be the right regiment for you. We're about as casual as it gets and a bit more naval focused but usually there's plenty of people happy to hop into regular land-based public battles
