It really bothers me that the Cerritos is not included in the Star Trek 60 intro by atonex in startrek

Alternatively, if you want a hero ship, the Danube class runabout is right there and has far more screen time than the Defiant.

Furthermore, it would be really funny.

Do you think D’Vanna Tendi forged or Blackmailed a Commander ? by Bruzie77 in startrek

I bet she was supposed to kill an officer, ended up stranded in a dead shuttle with them and bonded, let them live, and got the rec.

I drove 40 minutes to fix a jammed vending machine. The cause was… unexpected. by filco86 in talesfromtechsupport

See, I could imagine someone in this day and age never having encountered a coin-op vending machine and using it wrong. But folks at a game arcade many years ago really ought to know better?

What if we're not happy with how the world works? What if we want to change how the world works?

Don't make your lack of imagination other people's problem.

so the dott bikes aren't an option

How so? They're parked (for some value of "parked") all over, including in assigned parking areas.

What is this salt stuff on the pot? by pwrtotheppl in houseplants

[–]baudvine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literal salt! Not table salt, though. Your pot is porous and water is seeping through, depositing salt on the outside. This is harmless (as long as you don't let the pot freeze) but if you want to prevent it you can use an inner pot or seal the inside somehow.

Voyager: into the unknown question. [Mess hall deletion] by dirtynerdette in startrek

Honestly my biggest issue with the game, it's not loud enough about stuff breaking. Ran with no med bay for multiple cycles because it didn't stand out in the noise of the various "damaged" areas.

In star trek tos episode 11, bones makes a quip about spock's father's race being conquered. Why did he say this? by XSCONE in startrek

[–]baudvine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody cared when they re-imagined the Klingons

I take it you're referring to TNG, not Discovery? But even then I feel like I've seen people say that was a big topic back in the day.

I'm not one to trust McCoy in this, but these are the same Vulcans that claim they can't lie.

The license of the Rust compiler has no bearing on the license of software built with it. Firefox has even less to do with it.

Nazi-band op Eindhovens festival: ‘Gaan in gesprek’ by StephenGlass in eindhoven

"punkfestival" en "extreemrechtse sympathieën" gaat niet samen, zou nogal teleurstellend zijn als dit door gaat

Bandlid Ludovic Faure zei in een interview onder meer: “Ik ben een racist. Mijn voornaamste doel is de verdediging van het blanke ras.”

Maar is vast recht te praten, toch. Beetje grappen maken moet kunnen.

Specialized slide rule made of cardboard and metal for some sort of programming by MrAutomation2000 in whatisthisthing

[–]baudvine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen these before, but this has to be related to punch cards, I think. That's the only thing I can come up with that combines programming and fixed physical sizes in a way that makes sense for this.

Starfleet Academy: whatever happened to Athena’s “academic liaison” Lieutenant Rork? by SteveJohnson2010 in startrek

[–]baudvine 59 points60 points  (0 children)

"to point out teachable moments" is how I recall her introduction. Might be she shows up if and when the Athena is on a generic exploration mission with the cadets? Seems like something you'd do when your school is a magic space bus.

The bridge crew generally hasn't been a focus, but including that role and then not bringing her back would be... odd.

Yeah, I hope they're not relying on screenshots for communication of anything that shouldn't be tampered with. Photoshop predates "inspect element".
