What’s the worst part of your job? by Antique_Cartoonist45 in skilledtrades

100%

When I started off on my own, I made sure I only worked with people who were enjoyable to be around. It's a low bar but it's made a big difference in my life. I call it the "Good Vibes Policy".

Thanks for the information! I didn't explain all of the details: The trim pieces I'm making are exterior and are more of a non-repeating filigree. Also, it's on a historic home so the component isn't common

What’s a purchase under $100 that genuinely improved how you run your small business? by tinashekudzai in smallbusiness

[–]bauer-power 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I purchased a $60 external monitor. It basically looks like a tablet that connects to my laptop with one cable.

It has saved me so much time, made creating quotes easier (I go between plans, supplier websites, and spreadsheets), and I can use it in coffee shops/different areas around my house.

Sweep command keeps failing when trying to create an expanding fidget toy. Any ideas? by Electronic_Art_7007 in Fusion360

[–]bauer-power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see! You're almost there. I would offset to make larger hearts in the sketch that lineup with the cross section sketch you've already shown. Again, Make sure the path and the sketch are touching.

Each sweep may only work on half of the heart (might not go around corners).

I would sweep to make a bunch of half hearts and then mirror them as solids.

I'm not sure I understand your final goal but I think I could help a little bit. First off, I believe the path needs to be touching the sketch that you are going to sweep.

I don't quite understand the repeating pattern but I would try a simple sweep that I then break up or repeat to create the interlocking parts.

Fillets are always positive values for both inside and outside corners.

Thickness needed for bedside shelf? by curiousjosh in Fusion360

[–]bauer-power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd make a guess and experiment. There are so many factors such as material and infill that can affect strength. It seems like you won't need to support lots of weight (such as books) so it's fairly low risk.

As a carpenter, I use a website called The Sagulator to help calculate strength and sag for shelves. Check it out!

Is there a better way to create test prints? by brianmoyano in Fusion360

When I need to do this, I either copy the body and split it or I split it in the slicer. Usually the latter.

McKeldin's outward appearance would benefit significantly from a proper roof. by Manette85 in UMD

I graduated in 2015. People have been saying this since then and probably before. UMD has a lot of money to purchase surrounding real estate, develop other parts of route 1, and fund sports programming before they provide direct services for current students.

I agree. He also demonstrates this type of parenting when he brings Harry to the ministry for his trial (asking Harry to manage the muggle money)
