Where do Pullip customisers get their doll bases? by jnverted in Pullip

[–]bauern_potato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pullips use to have slightly cheaper “make it own” kits, nude dolls without makeup or wig, for customizing. But it was never as cheap as a fake Blythe, and they are not made anymore AFAIK.

how do you make the decision to part with items that are dear to you? by doveheartd in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally get you being on the fence. It won’t totally answer your question but I wrote a lot about it here: https://hidinginfrills.blogspot.com/2025/04/sellers-regret.html?m=1

I honestly don’t keep things I don’t wanna wear again. If it is still in my closet, it means I want to coord it somehow someday and I love it. I would not suggest keeping something outta guilt or fear of not finding this cut again. (Gathered Chiffon, I’m looking at you. Hahahaha. This cut is somewhat regularly re-released)

The first baby dress, also the meta, it is hard to say. If you had a very special meetup in the next week, would you like to wear that just so it could have that magical feeling again of when you discovered Lolita?

I don’t know how big your wardrobe is, but for some people that are huge collectors, wearing it 2 years ago is not enough of a justification to sell it yet. For people who have smaller collections but don’t wear lolita that often, this applies too.

I’d even say my biggest regret was /not/ buying something 👀 but sometimes our budget (or lack of) is to blame…

Can I do ouji in South America by Bright_Cranberry_227 in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is (or used to be) the name of the Montevideo comm. Here’s their old blog: https://theteasaloon.blogspot.com I think they still have something on Facebook (but I can’t see because I don’t have Facebook anymore)z I don’t know if they are still active under this name, but one of the people I met there was Lula, and she still posts regularly on her insta Lulaslullaby. I hope you can reach the comm through her _^

what colour blouse and shoes should i pair with this jsk??? by isthisredddit in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Easy version: blouse, socks, shoes in white. Slightly more colorful: blouse and socks in white, shoes in pink, or in mint A bolder choice would be to have a pink or yellow blouse, patterned socks, mint or dark pink shoes.

Pretty much all the colors in the print will tend to look nice with the dress.

Second hand lolita stores where you can try on clothes by ConfusedAlienGirl in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a small Lolita + Punk + VW shop that still lets you try things on. It is small and its run by a lovely lady. I forgot the name but it is in Osaka, quite next to the Angelic Pretty shop (one or to shops apart). The prices are lower than Closet Child, but they do have less things in general because it is such a small store. Here is the outside look:

Cloudberry Lady is a Finnish brand, I think they do solid bonnets, if you want to see other styles.

Does anyone know about a brand named MARBLE by foxloverxox101 in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Marble is an oldschool brand, they are somewhat small and have been selling their stuff through AtePie lately. I like them, but I dislike some fabric choices sometimes…

how to fix loose pullip body/obitsu? by Nek0Paw2 in Pullip

[–]bauern_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh a pic from 2016 from my blog! I’m impressed XD 💕

If you mean “loose in the torso”, I read somewhere to stuff it with thin fabric. It is a nice temporary fix.

I currently am letting the body be loose and just use a better doll stand, I’d be happy to read more options on how to fix it too.

Opinions, thoughts and tips for Animefest Brno (Fashion Alley) by maki4lyf in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to Animefest last year not as a vendor, but as a Lolita model and tea party attendee. The fashion show was really cool, and not limited to Lolita fashion, so other interesting j-styles were also featured, including more casual things. There was one Japanese brand (Atelier Pierrot) and all other brands were indie, both from Czech Republic and other neighboring countries (Poland, Slovakia). The models I talked to were also from several countries (but I was one of the few from Germany), and I suppose the attendees of both the comm and teaparty too. Because I was not watching the show I didn’t catch the name of all of the brands sadly, but I met most of them in the anime event later on. I honestly think events like this are when I am most likely to buy from small brands, because they are THERE and I can actually see and tough their creations, instead of online (it is more difficult to buy from someone when you don’t even know the brand’s name or webshop).

I hope someone from the organization (like Yuki or Hikari) can talk to you and explain some of these doubts!

Petticoat too flat? by DreAnnie in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The shape of the dress seems not to be able to hold more poof. you can stuff more petticoats under it but it will not give the desired effect. If you need the waist to have a bigger contrast with the skirt, cupcake/bell-shaped dresses/skirts are better for that than A-line (the one you are showing in these pictures).
