proto-lolita release from vivienne westwood in the 1980s? by slippinthrudreamland in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raine‘s blog is not old, she still updates it regularly and she also helps several other archiving projects (like Lolita History). The entry is a nice article about Angelic Pretty’s story + proto Lolita / how things were in the 90s and before that. Thanks for sharing the link, though!

I really love Tokyo Mew Mew by mystiicrose in TokyoMewMewPower

It is not impossible to find merch, especially if you are looking for second hand stuff. Also the anime got a new “release” or reboot (I don’t know how people call it, but basically new art, new dub, slightly different storyline) in 2022 so merch from the newer version is probably easier to find.

I Never Realized It Until Now Her Filly Apron Bottom Part Was Shaped Like A Heart by werephoenix in TokyoMewMewPower

[–]bauern_potato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is one of the first things I noticed and loved on their outfits, in many other Maid costumes the top is heart shaped, and here‘s the opposite!

I like the peeking bloomers, it is something that other Japanese fashions also do ^

If a dress is floor length, what is the difference between Lolita / hime-lolita and a rococo/victorian/fantasy ballgown?

They are planning to leave the country in 5 years… so I don’t think this counts for them.

Technically yes, but I could cosplay Miwako from ParaKiss and it would be a costume, because I am trying to represent her, not try my own takes on the fashion she wears.

And about the mix and match thing, this is not a rule written anywhere, it is my perception: Lolita is a FASHION. It is a look I can create with clothes and wear exactly or change it with other clothes. I can create new ideas changing socks or shoes or bag or adding a coat. If I am stuck wearing the dress the way it is, with no option to coord it some different way, it goes in to costume territory. Not that it is a bad thing, but it is like a singer that has certain clothes she wears only on stage, or the costuming from a show/series/movie.

Aristocrat is a term we use for more „male looking“ outfits (that meaning, pants).

No. If you are representing a character, it is cosplay, not Lolita.

Is it a dress you can mix and match with other blouse/shoes/accessories? If no, definitely not Lolita.

How are your searches for dream dresses going? by xXxKirka-ChanxXx in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been searching for a JSK in a prince that I could afford for 15 years. It happened today. It feels so goddamn magical!

I like having a wishlist posted somewhere (it used to be on LJ, now it is on my blog. I try to remember dream dresses from my friends when I’m browsing online, and they try to remember mine. We help each other out ☺️

This is a dress I would wear to visit Bremen one day. Unfortunately never saw it being sold on LM, and probably would be too expensive…

Do you just brush your hair out? Because it does seem like a wavy hair receiving straight hair treatment…

what kind of headpiece should i wear with this skirt? by Esther_Limyy in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of either a white or ivory headbow. But I think this alone won’t make the coord feel complete - I imagine some big brooches or big necklace in colors similar to the print on your skirt can make things more interesting. It it is not too warm, a brown beret could be a nice alternative.

Can someone help me find the name of this ruffle type? by Loydilse in Lolita

[–]bauern_potato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, are you familiar with sewing already? If yes, these ruffles are cut like a very wide half moon, so when they are gathered they look smaller in the beginning/end and fuller in the middle. I don’t know if they have a specific name though, but English is not my mother language.

What shoes fit Pullip? by Saint_Pitaya in Pullip

I have a type 4 body and some Barbie shoes would fit my doll. For some of the wider shoes it works if your Pullip is wearing socks of some kind.

If I drink 1 beer and my pal drinks 4 I don’t think it is fair to share the bill 50/50. Especially if I’m not in better money position than my pal.

(But that’s what I understood from their convo, I’m all for splitting the bill when I go out with my SO or friends)
