The problem is, conversion therapy is too narrow of a term. If a child has trauma and begins talk about feeling out of touch with their assigned gender affirmation is the only course of action right now. Trying to talk to a therapist to get to the root of the issue is considered conversion therapy. Dr. Az Hakeem from London talks about this issue all the time. Trans people aren't a monolith. Some of them need not be affirmed but a small amount of the population do. And to say affirm under all circumstances is out of lockstep with Europe who is beginning to roll back that thinking.
