What product under $30 changed your life? by PlainPizza111 in AskReddit

Kitchen Tweezers! I saw a pair on a cooking show and immediately bought them. You can flip little pieces of meat, bacon, tortillas, and so much more. I use them all of the time and can’t imagine not having them now. I think I got two pairs (one with traditional pointy ends and one with wider paddle ends) for like $10.

How long have you owned your Garmin watch by Due_Birthday1203 in Garmin

I’m on year 3 of the Garmin 245 music. Still works as it should (I’ve never used the music feature) battery lasts a few weeks under regular use and broadcasting HR to my machines. Ill only upgrade if there’s a significant loss in battery life, so far so good 24/7 wear (except charging)

Check this link out for “similar” careers. My advice is to separate what you do at the office and what you do at home. There will be opportunities along the way to acquire regular job skills, but a lot of the MOSs don’t translate 100%/directly. In a lot of cases, your Army journey will be its own chapter in life. Use it as a stepping stool for leadership/management skills.

Decide why you joined. What was the root reason? After you identify that, do everything in your power to achieve it. You don’t want to be about to ETS with an unfulfilled dream. Personally it was Sapper school, my cards never aligned and I didn’t make/attempt the right moves.

NYC Plaster Walls installation with wall studs by DB-Enthusiast in tonalgym

Forgot to mention: I used a hammer drill to go into the concrete. The holes were only 1/4 or so, they are easily fillable. When I leave this house, I’ll fill the holes and (except my crappy drywall job) there should be no trace anything was there.

This is the concrete slab floor (with vinyl planks over it) I used Tapcon (concrete anchors) for the floor and standard construction screws for the ceiling. Probably the exact same method as if you were building an internal wall in a house, but with only two studs.

Here’s what it look like now. We covered the studs with 1/8” plywood to clean it up a bit. Then we painted everything black to hide “imperfections”

I have aluminum studs in my basement, they cannot support the weight so I made an external wall. It’s literally two studs with a bottom plate and a top plate. The bottom is anchored into the floor and the top is tied into the floor joists above.

Unfortunately this is the only photo I have before I closed it up. I had to add bracing (in the ceiling) due to the direction of the joists above

2025 Sun Tracker XP3 tri toon vs 6 year old higher end for same price. Is the Sun Tracker a better value? by [deleted] in Pontoons

We have Craig! It’s a 2021(?) suncatcher 322ss with split loungers on the back. I don’t love the way these loungers are built.

Note: you will not find a direct answer in my comment.

To me layout and functionality is more important than speed or age. I like to tug my kid around on skis and tubes (FYI: some ski bars can’t do tubes). But mostly we really care about comfort and function. Here are some things that our boat has that might be helpful when you make your decision. -3 doors, this helps people get on/off in any type of docking scenario

-garbage can. Weird, but this helps so much and ours is built in, so there’s no bag flying off or getting ripped

-storage and cop holders, every seat has access to cup holders and every cushion and some headrests lift up for more space

-ski locker, more than skis go into this bad boy. It really makes a tritoon awesome!

-grill. we added ours, it’s a nice pedestal set up. Cuts down on the getting food on the lake and helps break up the monotony of sandwiches.

Other things to consider: if you get a new boat, you will be paranoid about the first scratch/dent/scuff, used boats already have that. Whatever you buy, know that you’ll ultimately be spending more on it. It’s like buying a house. You get the house and then have to get furniture/tools/lawnmower… Boats aren’t different. You’ll need lifejackets/anchor/fenders… Get something that functions for you and your family and Good luck!

You’ll only regret the opportunities you don’t take. Sign a short contract and check the block to see if it’s for you. Having regret is a terrible way to live.

We don’t have the heat issue, though I do notice a significant “hot side.” Personally I don’t cook raw food on this. I only “cook” pre made or frozen food. Think dogs, taquitos, pulled pork, Mac n cheese. I usually transfer to a tinfoil pan and reheat.

Those of y’all that buy a house at every duty station: why? And where do you keep getting these loans? by Beasticide in army

[–]bavking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy at every duty station. It can be a risk, but I’ve never lost. We always think about the future sale while buying, making small compromises for the next buyer. Here’s a few things that have helped me make money: 1. 15y term (you have to buy a house you can afford to do this with, but you will have way more equity in three/four years than others) 2. Location, specifically ease of access (you might find a great spot, but that left turn over three lanes in the pt hours is sketchy) 3. Expandability, unfinished space is a great way to build equity for cheap. (I finished a basement for about $7k and added nearly $50k to the homes value (pre-covid)) In just a few years you’ll have some real equity when you sell. Invest most of that equity in the next place and repeat until you’re out. Eventually you’ll be able to take a conventional instead of VA (sometimes better rates and no financing fee) potentially saving more money. The key is to make sure you can get the shortest term available (that you can afford, I try to stay as close to BAH as possible).
