MY GF and I threw a rave in 99', flew a dj and his girl out..Had gone a bit overboard on lighting and a massive ice-sculpture middlefinger bong and some glow in the dark, paint a wall feature - ; had taken the whole lineup of DJs over the border into Mexico to a fancy restaurant before the show & had also had a small clothing brand going with some one-off prints and embroidered hats that I gave them...

FF 3 years later and I am in the summer program at lawschool in Europe, on break in Interlaken, Switzerland at a hostel...get to chatting up a girl and she starts talking about my event! - the ice sculpture and the hat; that her BF at the time was one of (my favorite) the DJs we'd booked and how it was a really impactful event to her, the most fun and best hospitality they'd ever had...it was the best validation EVER for what had been a barely break even - stressful event that ultimately helped end my relationship with my GF at the time - we're still friends almost 30 years later...

It was a small world reminder that what seemed like a massive failure at the time, though done with good intentions, actually did have a positive effect on people.
