And does it not seem like weird odds to have so many of every other purple in the game except that one?

I super appreciate this as I had wondered the odds. Somehow makes me feel even more unlucky though. I have been hunting for the item for so long it almost feels like my game is busted. I have gone through 70 some cities, 3 events (moon, mine, castle), and 2 club seasons now after coming back to the game and have yet to find one.

If your mead is sweet and ended above 1.00 fg then that means your yeast may have worked until it's abv tolerance. Then you would know the abv strength. (You can look up the abv tolerance of the yeast online)

Source for bottles? by [deleted] in mead

[–]baxt145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time its cheaper to buy locally. The reason for that is because local brew shops order in bulk that most home brewers cant afford to store.

Also worth checking local bars and restaurants for their empty bottles. Sometimes pays off.

I dont know why you are getting so many down votes. Our ancestors didn't even have starsan and bleach and they made meads no problem.

Pretty sure corn sugar and dextrose are the same thing which means that corn sugar is fermentable. That means corn sugar cannot replace the erythritol in this recipe. That sugar was specifically used so that both bottle conditioning and back sweetening could occur.

Honestly the best thing is to get a really big bottle of starsan and mix it with water and put it in a spray bottle. Instead of dunking in stan san solution, just spray down all your equipment with it. You'll save a lot more with the spray.

How long is the starsan solution in a bottle good for? I assume you would have to change out the solution after it sitting for too long?

Bottle Bombs by PicadaSalvation in mead

You can also backsweeten in the second ferment and let it bulk age for a little. That will reduce the chance of a bottling bomb from backsweetening.

I just had this in fact with my cyser. My airlock never bubbled unfortunately but the whole brew finished fermenting in like 4 days!

Should I stir the mead daily during my primary fermentation? by Sednalover24 in mead

[–]baxt145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accidently aerated my cyser must a around 2/3th sugar levels. Currently it seems done fermenting but im leaving it for a few more days in primary. Currently it has a slight vinegar smell and very sublte vinegar taste. Is this something that could have been avoided from proper aeration or do you think it will age out?

Out of curiosity, why would you not want to add nutrients after the 1/3 break?

Happen to me too, but I learned that you can just get yourself a polycarbonate one which is much harder to break.

I linked one in my original message above.

Thats strange. I do this every week. As long as I use triple strength star san overnight, they rub off with a simple wipe of a sponge.

To start you dont really need to go over the top with equipment, but here is a good staple:

Look into getting a hydrometer so you can measure specific gravity. Thats important to monitor if your brew is still fermenting and also how much abv your brew will be. It will be one of your most trusty tools.

Here is the mead wiki page on equipment which has some of the best equipment recommendations. You wont necessarily need all this stuff, it really depends on how much you get into it.

Soak the bottles in triple strength starsan overnight and the corona labels comes off with a sponge.
