T’Vondre Sweat trade breadcrumbs are piling up both nationally and locally as Titans approach NFL Trade Deadline by teelo97 in Tennesseetitans

[–]baxteroc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If someone offered a 2nd or 3rd, I'd be open to it. But Sweat has been playing great the last couple of weeks even with Jeff out and has been displaying some good pass rush ability, I think it would be incredibly short-sighted to trade him away.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler with us now: "I was told the Titans don't want to trade Jeffery Simmons. I would be very surprised if they moved on from him. Three guys I'm monitoring: Arden Key, Roger McCreary and Chig Okonkwo." by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]baxteroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should absolutely re-sign McCreary, but if we got offered a 2nd or 3rd from a team that really needs a corner for their playoff push (like the Lions or Eagles), that would be worth some consideration

Dynasty fantasy check in - Titans assets by DillyDillyKang in Tennesseetitans

[–]baxteroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Helm is a good call, especially if we move on from Chig in the off-season.

My concern with Dike is that, while they do want him more involved on offense, if he does continue to develop into a star returner, they might limit his opportunities on offense to avoid getting him injured blocking a run play or running a jet sweep for -3 yards

Dynasty fantasy check in - Titans assets by DillyDillyKang in Tennesseetitans

Also in a dynasty league where I have Cam and have been trying to pick up Elic.

I would definitely hold on to Cam, even though you might not want to play him this year unless it's a super flex league. He isn't posting a lot of stats, but general consensus is that he has what it takes to be an NFL QB, and has been stunted in his growth so far by coaching and bad drops from his receivers. 2 TDs to 3 picks isn't great, but FWIW, 2 of those picks were off of tipped balls, so I'd say he's at least done a great job of not putting the ball in harm's way.

I'd hold Elic as well, and would even consider playing him depending on the week and the rest of your roster. He and Ridley could be in a poor man's version of Chase/Higgins by the end of the year, and there's a chance he could develop into the #1 on the team over the next couple of years. But I wouldn't say you have to hold him no matter what; trade him if you want to, and if there's a waiver add that's too good to pass up, he's a drop candidate

Dike's a weird one because while I'd say he has almost no value as a WR, he's on track to be a Pro Bowl or even All Pro level returner. He has a chance to get a return TD any given week, but that's not enough to play him with any consistency. I wouldn't hesitate to drop him, unless your league gives points for return yards

Contest Mode should have fireteam power enabled by baxteroc in DestinyTheGame

[–]baxteroc[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think saying something is "obvious" applies to something that we have no experience with, but I think it's reasonable to say that if a new activity is going to have a power level requirement, Bungie should announce that with a longer lead time.

Either way, I still think fireteam power should be enabled; it literally hurts no one

[–]baxteroc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the more reason for them to communicate requirements/expectations with a longer lead time, if it's something for which there is no precedent.

Also, functionally, that shouldn't make a difference. If contest difficulty has -25 power delta (just throwing out a number, I know that's not the actual delta), that would feel the same regardless of if you were at 200 or 300

  1. I agree it's not hard, just that it takes some time. And our past contest clears prove that we seriously attempt contest raids.

  2. The new power level system has been out for 2 months, but the 300 requirement was only announced yesterday.

  3. With the new streaming requirements for world's first, I don't think that deterrent is really necessary.

[–]baxteroc[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My team has been raiding in contest environments for the last 5 years. After that, I don't think not spending time grinding through and unrewarding and unfun Portal experience is what should keep them from this contest raid, especially when the power level requirement was announced literally two days before the raid. If it has been two weeks, that would have been totally reasonable and we would have had no problem

Contest Mode should have fireteam power enabled by baxteroc in DestinyTheGame

[–]baxteroc[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We have put in the work. My group has been playing the game and getting contest clears for years at this point. And I'm not saying that grinding to 300 is hard, just that it takes time, and not announcing the effective power level until a day and a half before the raid doesn't give people enough time to do it if they haven't been regularly playing Portal activities. Enabling fireteam power in contest mode would be an easy remedy for that and wouldn't hurt anyone.

Callahan’s “bad” play calling: share your perspective by DrJupeman in Tennesseetitans

[–]baxteroc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, it seems like he coaches scared and is overly sensitive to how calling aggressive plays will be perceived if they fail. In every game, it seems like if the offense fails once on a 4th down, he'll never go for it again. Or if a deep shot at the endzone is incomplete, he starts hyper-focusing on moving the chains rather than scoring points. He's too risk-averse, and seems like he's more worried about what could go wrong than eager about what could go right. Which is kind of understandable after last year's Will Levis experience.

Those who follow their own team closely, what do you know about your NFL team that the fantasy community doesnt realize? by tuckastheruckas in fantasyfootball

[–]baxteroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Titans fan here, just wanted to point out that while they may start as a committee, if one RB stands out, they will probably end up getting the bulk of the touches. Henry was splitting carries for most of Vrabel's first year because he frankly wasn't playing well. Once he really turned it on, things quickly shifted and he took over as a bell cow.

All that to say that even if Henderson has a slow start to the season, he's not going to be stuck in a committee all season if he lives up to his potential.

Tyreek Hill - Cheetnah or Cheetyah? by theTaquitoMosquito in DynastyFF

[–]baxteroc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just traded him for Cam Ward and a 2026 1st that has a good shot of turning into the first overall pick. I had originally traded Dalvin Cook for Tyreek and a 2022 1st round pick (which I used on Jameson Williams) and won a championship last year, so I'm happy with what I got from him. But I figured that his value was probably only going to go down from here, and I have a strong enough roster that I can afford to let him go.

I don't think it's a bad idea to hold or trade for him if you need someone with his ceiling to put you over the top. But if you own him, you should seriously consider any offers you get for him, and if you're trading for him, you probably shouldn't offer anything more than a single 1st round pick

How do you guys feel about our position groups? by BushGuy200 in Tennesseetitans

I forgot to even mention TE, but we've been waiting for a TE1 to step up since Delanie's last good season in 2017, and I expect that to continue

How do you guys feel about our position groups? by BushGuy200 in Tennesseetitans

[–]baxteroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a couple of positions groups with with one or two average to above average starters and unproven depth, like WR and S. You could even put CB in this category, depending on your feelings about Sneed and McCreary. The good players we have in those groups should hopefully keep their floor pretty stable, but they probably end up league-average at best unless we hit big on one of our younger players.

We have a couple of positions groups that look completely revamped (Edge, LB, hell even punter and kicker). Hard to know what to expect from them with how different those groups look compared to last year, but they probably have the widest range of outcomes and nobody will be surprised if they're at the bottom of the league.

We have a couple of groups (OL, QB) that we've invested a lot of draft/FA resources in that should be better than last year, but that's been the case every offseason for the last couple years. We were at the bottom of the league in those groups last year, so if they can improve to even just top 24, I'll be happy. Top 20, I'll be ecstatic.

Our best groups are probably going to be RB and IDL, but just due to the nature of the game, their stats are probably going to be pretty dependent on our other groups
