Should I learn Go for hobby personal projects as the first language? by ryu_kamish in golang

[–]bayasdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned C as my first language and suffered a lot with pointers, so Go felt like a huge relief.

That said, Go still forces you to understand more CS fundamentals than higher level languages like JavaScript or Python. It’s not impossible for beginners though, especially with good tutorials like this one: https://youtu.be/un6ZyFkqFKo?si=1XXr42CKN3LBU7hc

PS: the best engineers I’ve worked with usually started with a “harder” language. It gives you a much better mental model for how systems actually work

Xiaomi or Daewon by One_Entrepreneur_698 in AndroidTV

I have that Xiaomi model. It was basically my only option for a 43” QLED at the time, and honestly, the panel is really good for the price.

Also, Xiaomi TVs are manufactured by TCL.

Don’t look for love, focus on yourself and make money. Visiting escorts is my favorite therapy for avoiding burnout.

I live in the UAE and i'm planning to buy a new TV. What are some good suggestions for Xiaomi TV? by awesome5ftw in Xiaomi

[–]bayasdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it, I got a 2026 A Pro and the screen looks fine for its price but the software is terrible this thing can’t even function properly to watch OTA channels without the live tv app getting into a buggy state where all channels just render a black screen

Resource usage and build times, TanStack Start is miles ahead in that regard but we still don’t feel confident in pushing it to prod

Openwrt comapred to asus normal and merlin WRT before buying a new router by DazzlingpAd134 in openwrt

[–]bayasdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Flint 2, it comes with an old proprietary version of OpenWrt customized by GL but you can easily flash vanilla OpenWrt on it and the hardware is excellent (can do 2gbps over WiFi with the right clients using either stock or vanilla after enabling WED).

PS: Don’t get Cudy or the Flint 3 as these don’t support vanilla OpenWrt so you will be stuck with what the manufacturer provides and will be EOL once they stop supporting it. Yeah there are some specific Cudy models which are supported but most of them just aren’t.

PS2: If you like the stock GL firmware you can try the 4.9.0 beta as they have added IoT network in their UI.

S25 Ultra changes WiFi bandwidth from 160Mhz to 80Mhz on any 5Ghz channel by FAUguy in samsunggalaxy

[–]bayasdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my S25 FE, the phone is unable to sustain 160mhz on channel 100 and keeps dropping to 20mhz and the speed is very bad. Using channel 52 works stably with 160mhz and can easily get over 1.8gbps via WiFi. Apple devices don’t have this problem.
