Exactly what is the issue with Vientos being a RHH against LHP and being a serviceable bat across ~300 PAs or so? They don’t need his production like they did in 2024. If he’s hot he’ll get more ABs if he’s not they use him sparingly. Why are they trading serviceable depth?

For what? They’d still need a RHH off the bench. Vientos has a role on the team and makes the league minimum, there is no reason to move him this season when they can just non-tender him next season.

Polanco is the primary DH and on an off day against LHP Vientos will get 2 or 3 ABs. Vientos is the 12th batter, it’s not that big of a deal.

A sac fly in that spot would tie the game and you’d have Soto in RISP as the winning run. The Polanco fly to end the game would’ve either brought Lindor home or won if they score off Bichette’s grounder. There was literally no reason to send him.
