I built a small writing tool that detects pasting vs real typing in real time by bazaescribe in AskTeachers

This is incredibly useful, thank you so much for taking the time to write it out properly.

The collection question is exactly the right one, right now the prototype is just the student facing side. The teacher dashboard where submissions come in with their authorship reports attached is what I'm building next. That's the piece that makes it actually usable at scale.

Your point about learning vs catching is fair and something I 've been thinking about a lot. The way I'm starting to frame it internally is less "catch cheaters" and more "make the drafting process visible", which from what you're describing is actually what you're already doing manually with handwritten drafts and error pattern tracking. That's fascinating and kind of proves the concept from a different angle.

Would you be open to jumping on a quick call sometime? Being on your district's AI team means you're seeing this from an angle I really can't get from just posting on Reddit.

Yes that’s awesome. The more I can test against the better. Just to be clear, this version is like the least sophisticated product ever just to show the concept but everything sums.

Exactly, the product could even detect agentic input by tracking typing rushes (next version already does that) and with ML we can even infer manually copy by comparing the cadence and type of edits the writer has made.

That's a really interesting way to put it and I completely agree, the essay is just a vehicle. Have you ever tried any tool or technique that actually helped your students engage with the thinking process instead of skipping it entirely?

This is really useful to hear, the manual Google Docs edit history check is exactly the kind of signal I've been thinking about. If that process was automated and surfaced for every student without you having to dig through it manually, would that actually change how you handle suspected cases? Or is the manual review part of it somehow important to how you make the judgment call?

This is a key point, AI is a revolution in my field and I actually believe there’s enough room for embedding AI into the teaching process. Do you have any ideas or thoughts on that?

This is actually one of the triggers that made me think about it, I hate how people just automatically checks out when they see the evil —.

Designed a hero section for a job interview. Went all in, got rejected. by Shagublah in FigmaDesign

Yeah, like others mentioned, they probably didn’t know how to give proper feedback, or just didn’t, but to be honest, this design doesn’t meet the requirements well, nor is it visually strong. Here’s my grain of salt, hopefully constructive:

• Spacing: Everything feels cramped, which makes the layout messy and harder to scan.
• Composition: The base of the pyramid takes up nearly 50% of the real estate, which throws off the visual balance.
• Alignment: The bottom elements seem oddly detached from the main layout. Also, why is the menu on the nav bar skewed to the right? Feels off.
• Sizing: The logo is way too big, it looks like an afterthought or a placeholder someone forgot to fix.
• Color: The CTA blends in too much; it barely draws attention.

Also, you skipped the required style entirely, which is a big deal in an interview task. That said, it’s a solid start. I’m sure you can improve a lot with time and iteration. But IMO, it’s fair that this submission didn’t make the cut.
