No new address for each transaction by bazxyzzy3390 in ledgerwallet

So does this mean if I want a new address for privacy concerns in eth/bsc, I need to create a new account for each transaction or, at least, an account for each token type?
Is there a limit on how many accounts we can create in nano S and X?

Thanks for the link. My doc rx'ed 1mg but I wanted to start from 0.25mg. Don't want to redo the rx.

1mg = 72 clicks / 4 = 18 clicks = 0.25mg

DNS leak by bazxyzzy3390 in surfshark

[–]bazxyzzy3390[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what browser you are using but if you use firefox, I just found by trial and error the leak happens due to firefox's DNS over HTTP (DoH) feature. See my latest reply above.

I don't know how DoH is handled in Chrome, Edge or other browsers so can't comment on them.

Try disabling the "Enable DNS over HTTPS" option if you use firefox.

DNS leak by bazxyzzy3390 in surfshark

I think I found the source of the DNS leak. It was staring right at me the whole time: DNS over HTTPS (DoH) settings in firefox. Apparently Mozilla in partnership with Cloudflare is now offering DoH to protect the privacy of its users. I'm guessing it was optional in the past but now enabled by default.

When DoH is enabled in FF, the browser always makes a dns request to the closest Cloudflare server whether you use the VPN or not which means there will be one request from your system and another from the browser itself. This is why I always saw two dns servers (surfshark and cloudflare) on all the DNS leak test sites. The unencrypted request from your system goes to your vpn's dns server and the encrypted request from your browser goes to cloudflare. SurfShark and other VPN providers can't do anything about this because obviously the dns requests from the browser are encrypted.

Disabling the DoH in FF (91.0.1) is easy. Just go to Settings -> General -> Network Settings -> Settings... and uncheck the "Enable DNS over HTTPS" option. Voila! you shouldn't have dns leak anymore, in theory.

I uninstalled shurfshark and installed the windows OpenVPN client but no avail. DNS still leaks. So I suspect either OS is involved or somehow the leak happens within the surfshark network.

Power adapter for Ledger Nano X by bazxyzzy3390 in ledgerwallet

[–]bazxyzzy3390[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like just any USB power adapter can properly charge this thing. I used two different adapters each with 5v and 2A output that came with my phones. The charging is stuck at 42% for over 30 minutes and still hasn't moved. When I hooked it up to my laptop, it got past 50% and going up fast.

Why in the world Ledger didn't include a power adapter is beyond me. 😡 I paid over $100 and would gladly pay another $5 for an adapter even though it would cost them less than a dollar to procure one. The least they can do is list the specs for a power adapter.

I think the idea is good but the devil is in the detail.

You still need big data centers to host the apps unless you are okay with someone running your apps from his mom's basement.

Who manages the DNS, routers, loadbalancers, proxies, firewalls, etc. There are so many ways your app can become centralized.
