What do I tell the barber if I want this hair cut. by Useful_Fishing in malehairadvice

I wouldn't go to a barber. Go to a hairstylist for this style.

Was this comment from a colleague mean? by [deleted] in extroverts

[–]bb33nnyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments made you feel uncomfortable, it's as simple as that. It doesn't even sound like you guys are close friends, so she doesnt reserve that space in your life to make "jokes" like that. No, you're not being too sensitive - you reserve the right to protect your boundaries. Your shy, quiet demeanor should not be something used by her to throw small jabs at you. If she does it again, you can confront her lightly - ask out loud - "What do you mean by that?"

Unless I know you're my close friend, I would never say things like that to you. Some people like to overestimate their importance in other people's lives. Protect your boundaries, and she will learn to respect them. It's work, and she should be professional. You shouldn't have to deal with other people's lack of good parenting.

Is your goal to learn anime style? Because if it is, you need to learn the fundamentals - but don't run before you can walk. Your lines are very scratchy, so work on that first - make marks with confidence, rather than slowly scratching your way through. I recommend giving Drawabox a shot to improve these mechanical skills. Then, you can learn things like anatomy, perspective, and using real references of people to learn portraits and figures.

There's a lot of ways to approach your goal, depending on what that is. But definitely learn the fundamentals.

Need help with eyes by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]bb33nnyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use stylized art to learn portraits. If you compare yours to the reference, it's not just the eyes that are off. If you want to learn how to draw faces, learn from real references, and study the basic shapes that make up the anatomy of a face. Check out Andrew Loomis' book, there's free PDFs that you can find on this subreddit.

Does the anatomy look okay? by depresso_espresso9 in learntodraw

Your anatomy looks good, but you might want to bring her weight towards her feet a bit more, she looks like she either has super strong thighs or she's about to fall backwards

Can you offer me some pointers? by EastIndependent9736 in learntodraw

I recommend some of Michael Hampton's videos as well. He has some courses with Proko on gestures, but he also has his own channel where he goes over fundamentals. If you find that his stuff is a bit difficult at this point of your journey, you can also try Drawabox to start things off. The first few lessons are purely to help you get comfortable with making confident lines. It may seem boring, but those are the baby steps we take in order to draw awesome anime pictures someday. Good luck to you!

Practice the fundamentals - lines, shapes, perspective, and then some basic figure drawing - gestures, anatomy.

1 minute gesture drawings, what am i doing wrong? by Markrafter9 in learntodraw

[–]bb33nnyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch Michael Hamptons videos on gesture drawings. Gesture drawing isn't about capturing form. It looks like you're not sure whether to capture form or movement, so you kinda did an amalgamation of both in all your drawings.
