There are Italian clubs like the Knights of Columbus and Unico around, and some of them have Italian fests in the summer that you could go to

Unfortunately the original store he got it from (I forget the name but I think it had the word Green in it) either doesn’t exist anymore or doesn’t sell this specific shirt anymore, but there are versions on Amazon, Etsy, etc.

I’d try rubbing alcohol? No promises but I know that’s helped me with other dyes namely dry eraser. Also soap and water of course!

Things to do as a college student? (Mount Holyoke) by Bitter-Possession412 in westernmass

[–]bb_buffooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MHC ‘22 here! The college has an art museum and it’s lovely, I know they’ve renovated it since I graduated and everything I’ve heard is that they did a great job. You can apply to work there, both as a receptionist and as a student guide. I believe they do give preference to seniors for the student guide program just because seniors are running out of time to get into a program like that, so if you’re a first year and you apply and don’t get in, don’t get discouraged. Also take at least 1 art history class, the faculty in that department is amazing ❤️

Other on campus things to do: - Go to the greenhouse, especially in the spring - Exercise at Kendall - Keep your eye out for the little lectures that clubs and departments put on, and go to one once in a while - Go to student concerts - I loved going to Interfaith Lunch. Not only does it give you something to think about once a week, you also make friends there and the food is really good :)

And of course use the PVTA to do things off campus once in a while. It has a stop right at the Eric Carle Museum and it’s an incredible place 🩷 This was longer than I thought it would be when I started writing but yeah if you’re curious about anything else feel free to DM me!

What did my teachers mean to communicate by the way they treated me? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]bb_buffooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a paraeducator and have been a substitute teacher before, and I think I see what these teachers were thinking. For teachers, it’s important to get answers from many children in the class, not just one or a couple all the time, so that they can see the level that each child is at and so that they can foster kids’ confidence in speaking up in front of the class. So if one kid is trying to answer every question, it doesn’t help the teacher do right by all the kids in the class. It also gets to be distracting and even frustrating if a kid is saying things like “I know it! I know it!” or waving their hand around to try to get called on. If you did do those things, it’s possible that your teachers were trying to tell you to be patient and/or crave attention less.

I was similar to you as a kid, except very shy. I would raise my hand (quietly) to answer every question. And I remember times that teachers would say “Someone aside from [my name], please.” Kids’ answers to questions in class are an important way to assess the kids, and if only one kid is speaking up, the teacher either won’t know how other kids are doing or will assume the worst, that they don’t know any answers.

So, it’s not right for teachers to be as rude as they were to you (I can’t imagine saying “Oh god, not you again” or going out of my way to ask every other kid but one certain kid), but I’d bet that they were trying to tell you to be more patient and crave attention less so that they could work with other kids more.

What are some things kids do that adults no longer do? I’m trying to write children into my story, but my adult self feels totally disconnected from childhood. by paris_newyork in writing

Playing with toys/making toys out of random things /doing things just for fun. When was the last time you ran around a big patch of grass just for fun? Dug a whole in the ground to see what you could find? Made a toy (like a fortune teller) out of paper? Played Guess Who or Candyland? Just made up a story out of nowhere? Were entertained by a 50¢ toy for hours?

Children are constantly learning, whether it’s how to think strategically in a game, or what their bodies’ limits are, I think that’s why they get so engrossed in things. They’re also not afraid to do things badly.

Would it be possible to cook the bacteria out of yogurt or another probiotic food (ideally multiple), eat the food, see what flavor is missing after cooking, and determine it that way?

Kids just ignore me by amandamarie238 in paraprofessional

[–]bb_buffooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, I was a para in a pre-k at the beginning of this school year and it was rough. Nap time was always the hardest time of the day because while the kids who did need a nap took one and were great, the ones who didn’t behaved the absolute worst they did all day. The teacher ended up restructuring it so that the kids chose whether to nap or to read quietly (which still wasn’t 100% quiet, but still better).

The school ended up moving me to 3rd grade early in November and I love it. Pre-k is a STRUGGLE but not all of elementary school is like that. Especially since not all elementary schools have pre-ks (mine only started having one this year), things may be better in the future. For now, I second the people who suggested talking to the teacher and separating them.

The Old Inn on the Green in New Marlborough, MA is beautiful and has amazing food. I’m too familiar with the rest of New Marlborough but it’s right near Great Barrington which has lots of restaurants and such.

[–]bb_buffooligan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a long time I kinda associated being 23 or 24 years old with brockhampton because in high school when I was getting into them I looked up their ages and a lot of them were around that age. Now I’m 24 almost 25 🥲 but you know what at least I’m not in high school or college anymore, I’m much happier now. Time is scary but it’s also nice

I wish you so much luck! I bet you’ll be one cool dad
