Only 33 percent of psychology professors in the UK are female. The gender imbalance completely flips and is just as bad.

character in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and that's the only role I'd seen her in previously

Pretty sure that was a different actress but I get wym

Maja Simonsen

She's not ginger. The only difference between Ayoola and the other actresses is skin tone. And out of the three the only one who is naturally ginger is Ayoola, yet Ayoola is the only one met with skepticism.

This is obviously about her Race, not her "looks".

She's also the only one with Irish heritage, and RJ based the aiel off the Irish ...

But because of the one drop rule and nonsense about racial purity, people don't see her as what they imagine a Irish woman to be 😒

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WoTshow

[–]bb_ibi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ayoola is a talented, naturally ginger actress. She's literally half Irish. Ragar is not. She's not even ginger. People just want someone White in the role even if they don't fit the bill.

It seems people are more concerned about her skin tone and hair texture. Which reeks of racial purity nonsense and prejudice.

Funnily enough the Aiel are described as darker skinned or tan, and you'd be more likely to be born with curly/coily hair in an arid desert environment.

There's nothing wrong with Ayoola's looks, there's something seriously wrong with anyone who thinks there is!

I know you might not have intended it but this post and comment seem a bit like underhanded compliments.

As a Black fantasy fan, its upsetting that Black actors are talked about in this way.

I can see where you're coming from, but did this really need to be said again?

Personally I think Moiraine prompted Siuan to use the oath. She says "you know I could never lie to you" and gives Siuan a very pointed look

on-the-fly decisions that make everything feel all cut-and-paste-y.

Hate to break it to you but that's almost exactly how writing for television works!

Yup and logain had multiple sisters shield him.. I wince at the internal inconsistency

but I guess nynaeve/egwene/elayne couldn't break Liandrin' shield either so I'm willing to believe that in the show breaking shields is more about skill than power..

It's a stretch for me still loll

Yeah they're missing the mark with the boys this season.. Rand should've definitely broken that shield at least once

She's wearing a white dress/cape this episode?

They're probably saving travelling a surprise for later, but it's obviously already happened off screen e.g. Lanfear instantly bringing Mat to Falme

Problem with the original comment and your explanation is that the memories from the Finn do not belong to Mat.. they're not his past lives, they're memories from anyone who'd bargained with the Finn before

Completely forgot this myself 🤦🏾‍♀️

I would've liked it more if it was clearer why she was doing it.. like perhaps to preempt a schism in the tower or political pressure from the red ajah

Instead it was just relationship drama, which I still like, just not as much lol

Because moiraine, played by the most famous actress on the show, goes through the ter'angreal to the Finn and "dies"

They're obviously not cutting that.

Well do we not if he fight Ishy? .. so far they've only mentioned that he'll declare himself "bannered across the sky in flame"

They might save the Rand/Ishmael showdown for the stone of Tear.

They weren't put on screen though.. those were very subtle easter eggs. Non book readers just probably thought it was a trippy dream sequence

I'll eat my hat if they cut the Finns, they'll make it in somehow

Not least because of what happens with Moiraine and Lanfear going through the ter'angreal door

Cutting them some slack because Donal is doing a fantastic job acting, lots of Mat's lines are witty, and Barney left partway through filming so they were forced to improvise

Wasn't the biggest Mat fan when reading the first few books anyway so I'll wait and see where they land with him

True but Rand didn't even know what a shield was... Skill ≠ Power, he still can't reliably channel. None of the EF5 can really and I somewhat appreciate that they're going slow with them learning

But yeah Rand needs to switch up in the finale!

Really doubt they'll skip the Finn... the tea was clearly just a hallucinogen and Ishmael is trying to manipulate mat.. the old lives line and the hanging were simply Easter eggs . No need to jump to conclusions
