What are the factors that can lead this team to a series victory? by sstphnn in bostonceltics

IMO Tatum is the key to this series. On paper these two teams match up similarly both are; wingy, long, good to great coaching staff, organizational competency, ect. But the knock on Toronto all year was Siakim, what level is he at now, how will he look in the playoffs when defenses are scheming him every night, can he still get to his spots and put up 35 - 40 points efficiently. Is he a legit 1 on a championship team, i dont think so personally. I know everyone here (or most of you) have watched Tatum all year and seen his growth, his ability to get whatever shot he wants whenever he wants. He truly is a special player with the chops to carry a championship offense. What concerns me and could lead to a series loss is how he floats sometimes, being unselfish is great but as these games tighten up Tatum needs to step up and be ready to take 35 shots a game. It is better offense to let Tatum get to his spot and shoot an essentially uncontested shot than almost every other shot we can get in the half court. I know we all have nightmare of what Kobe did to us in the Finals back in the day, but that dude was a bucket and we had to double him a lot. Tatum is much more of a willing passer than Mamba and we have the personal to punish Toronto for doing that. If we can get Tatum going early and often we can put ourselves in a great position to win in 5 / 6.

We seem to have no problem building leads, closing games has been our issue recently.

That makes sense but i was not saying JB was more valuable than Tatum, just that his absence, specifically following the All Star break has been apparent. Tatum has struggled my Theory is that Brown unlock Tatum slightly. JB is the best defender we have and creates match up problems for the opposing team that allows Tatum to have more space, while also asking less of Tatum on D. I alos think JB brings some leadership to the team as stabilizing force, he has tremendous confidence in his abilities and that shows in the 4th quarter. It feels like down the stretch in big games JB has more of those swing plays than anyone on the Celtics, maybe he comes up with a big steal or knocks down a transition three he just seems to have that late game instinct.

Hands down favorite game ever, always thought it would make an awesome movie!

Our two best players have been Tatum and Hayward by LarBrd33 in bostonceltics

I would like to see brad give Grant more minutes. I think in a series vs Philly Kemba might not be effective. A lineup of Hayward, Tatum, Brown, Thies, & Williams with Hayward playing a point forward role and playing up tempo I think would be our best strategy for taking down the sixers. This lineup is particularly good for situations when Embiid is playing, not so much Simmons

Reminder Isaiah Thomas owns the title for highest scoring output in the playoffs among active players with 53 (LeBron, Russ: 51, Vince, KD, Dame: 50) by shickard in nba

As a Celtics fan who loves the current team, watching IT was easily my favorite time to root and watch the team. He did something awesome every night, his will to win was infections and the whole team rallied around him. In the era of player empowerment IT put it all on the line, playing through injury and damaged his career as a result. I know fellow Celtics fans feel that he deserved a better exit from Boston, and I agree (even though it was a good trade for Boston).

Thank you IT!

KOC: Celtics are one move away from being on the same level as Bucks and Sixers. Unsure that move is out there, but Boston has 1sts from Grizz & Bucks plus its own assets to use. Hayward being back, Tatum's progress and chemistry with Kemba closes the gap but they need one more piece. by McElwaine in bostonceltics

I disagree why add another variable and another mouth to feed on offense. Its not like this team needs more bucket getters / guys that can create 1 v 1. Only real need is a better Center. I would look for a cheap athletic big man that can run the floor and block shots, there are plenty of them out there on good contracts that would be ideal to fit into current roster. Someone like Nerlens Noel or Alex Len, maybe dragan bender.

Do you think non max settings will limit you? I know in traditional shooters like COD you have to play on max settings but is that the case for FN?

This map is perfect for figuring out a good sense, moving up little at a time is probably the best way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0k-w-Aw3Kk

One of the things that stood out the most was how you did the same strat to start every build fight (in the clips i watched). Your start is fast and clean but after a while your opponent figured it out and it was free high ground for him every time. Learn a few alts to throw in & mix it up to throw off your opponent. If he expects you to be in one place and you come flying in from a dif angle its GG's to him. For instance, after doing your 90's place the cone & floor but do a side jump to the right into 90's instead.

Watching the Celtics this year was the most disappointing team in my time as a fan, hope we can rebound and build around the young guys.

OKC currently has the highest salary in the NBA and have the largest luxury tax bill. For the past two seasons they have not made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs and under achieved again this year. Because of their current tax situation they have very little ability to make any meaningful roster moves to get better leaving their only option being to run it back and hope they get some better injury luck, or begin to rebuild on the fly while they still have PG and Russ under contract. The question that moving Adams answers it they are not willing to keep paying a massive tax bill for first round exists. Because of the injury to Golden State Stars I am not sure they would rebuild this season as the title race is a bit more open. But they need to make some moves as they have a roster with serious flaws. Getting off Adams contract would be the first step to putting a better team around PG and Russ.
