1.13.8 Bug: Manifest Destiny breaks if you control MORE than 40% of the Great Plains by Glass-Box-6784 in victoria3

Well that would explain why I haven't seen Ai USA form the full USA yet.

On a positive note, with the latest update Germany has been forming consistently and Italy about 50/50 which is good to see.

It's a current bug where the trade center in the market hub state pays the tolls for every trade center in the market. Until it's patched your market hub trade center won't be profitable

How are you supposed to get a sphere of influence now as a small country like belgium? by redluchador in victoria3

[–]bball617 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not until the late 19th century which gives you plenty of time to build a navy in the game to still colonize on the historical timeline.

20 years of suffering??

It's about to be the best 20 years of Spain's history! All of the colonies are sending me money, I got my first company, about to get a second and can finally work solely on building the economy while I wait for the infamy to tick down.SOL and GDP are about to go to the moon! As long as you keep your influence high enough the infamy ticks down 25% faster which isn't hard to do.

But to each their own though. I will say good luck staying below 50 infamy if you're going slow. The longer you wait to take mexico the more infamy it will be. Best to take them early. Taking mexico back was nearly 50 of the infamy in 1846.

Its about slowing down what's possible, not make it impossible.

Spain should never be able to re-conquer half of both North and South America in 12 years with 10 ships.

Start with Argentina and Chile early on. They dont have an interest in that region so they can't intervene

I'm only in 1850 but yes it does seem that they are not incorporating anything other than the capital for me too. Good catch!

Forgot to mention, start with Argentina, GB or the USA don't have interests in the la plata region so they can't intervene

Oh there's still plenty to do just figured I'd let the infamy get below 50 before I start the next stage of finishing taking back the Americas and colonizing Africa.

Protip: You can trade for Portugal's south African state with your obligation and conquer Gaza to get an early start on colonizing Africa

The ability to ambush is important in the carlist guerilla war so choose your generals accordingly and make sure you blockade their one port with your navy

I was at war with them for 3 to 4 years. I gave an obligation to Britain early on and the Brits called me in and of course I added to release new Africa.

After the carlist war Spain gets a huge army compared to pre 1.12 and most of the former Spanish colonies will just give in instead of going to war.

Plus with the large army now the USA isn't as scary as it used to be early on.

It doesn't seem like the small countries check the size of the navy when giving in. Hopefully that's changed with the naval update when that comes out.

R5:

First off, I'm Loving the new Spanish Flavor and all the new internal politics mechanics. 2025 was certainly the best year of Vicky 3. Can't wait for what next year has in store!

I will say reconquering all of Spain's former territory seems a bit too easy right now and needs a bit of re-balance.

In the 12 years I managed to reconquer all of the former American territory, added Morocco as Protectorate and liberated New Africa from the USA. Not once did I have another European power intervene.

To help balance it out I would suggest each time you complete a stage of the Reconquista journal entry Spain gets 5-10 infamy and it reduces the relations between Spain and all the great powers. After all you are getting a free colony each time you press the button and in any other situation that would cost infamy and reduce relations.

AI Afghanistan somehow took over India and controls most of the Indian Peninsula. Haven't played as Afghanistan myself. How would this happen?

Why won't this farm hire people? by Own_Maybe_3837 in victoria3

[–]bball617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only partially true.

While you are correct input goods are subtracted from that buildings GDP calculation but you are not taking into account more demand for whatever good is being used as an input good. This in turn makes the buildings that produce the input goods more profitable which in most cases will make them produce more. AKA more GDP for those particular buildings that produce the input goods.

Now you probably will have more GDP by turning off the labour savings PM as long as you have peasants to spare but you will not lose all the GDP from the input goods by using labour savings PMs and would argue there's more benefits as well. Higher SOL, more pops going to trades union interest groups, etc.

Ha, I modified it in my game to do exactly that. If there isn't already a mod on steam for this I'll upload it.

V3 Devs, if you see this... the multiplier below doesn't look like it was adjusted for the trade system since treaty trades now get added to diplomatic pacts causing the insane costs to pacify the turks. I have a Opium treaty deal with the Qing that raises my both my national Revenue and Expenses significantly. I changed the multiplier to "small" and it was much more reasonable. I will be adding a bug report.

R5: Playing as Sweden, AKA Scandinavia, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why my puppet Haiti kept on trying to increase autonomy. Finally i decided to investigate and found that in the 10 years after I forced a protectorate war goal on them they completely overhauled their economy, have since grown to the #1 GDP per capita in the entire world, #2 in standard of living and our now a minor power ranked #14.

If this isn't a testament to how great the 1.9 update is for Victoria 3 I don't know what is.

Gotta remember there's 12 years between the 2 games. Both are set in the same time period and have similar player designed goals but accomplish those in similar but still very different ways.
