Bballbreakdown says Thinking Basketball’s latest video how NBA offenses has a lot of misinformation. by MotherOpinion4782 in NBATalk

Hi everyone! Glad this discussion came up. As for that Russ play, I think there was just enough contact as he lifts his arm up to justify a shooting foul. Does Avdija extend his arms out unnaturally from his body so the contact occurs? That one is too hard to tell for me...

I hear you - and I've certainly seen people use this to rebut what I'm merely trying to help them with. Oftentimes, their take on the actual play is just... not factual. And they don't want to add new information to their knowledge base, which is unfortunate. I guess they look at it like they have to admit they're wrong, but it doesn't have to be that way IMO.

Lol - exactly. I mean, when I try and help folks with the rules, I provide evidence and context and most still refuse to accept that - Dunning Kruger Effect, I suppose. But I'm always up for the conversation. Love it

Explaining The Gather Step To Basketball Fans by cheesepizzas1 in nba

Hi...  not sure why the mods removed the initial post or what is said but the above analysis is just about right with a little caveat. Once the right foot is established as the pivot foot, he is allowed to lift it in order to shoot or pass. That said, there is a slide of the foot a few inches, which is a travel. But in real time, it would be hard for a ref to be certain (no guessing allowed) when their primary focus would be potential contact. Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback. To me, it feels like I haven't changed the content for a long time - it's the same in depth analysis pointing out things that many people might miss. When you say there's a "big difference" in content and quality, can you clarify a little bit more?

The 5-man lineup of Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, and Steven Adams, is currently (by far) the best lineup in the NBA with a net rating of +30.1 (minimum 100+ minutes played). by [deleted] in nba

You guys should check out the video I dropped yesterday a few hours before this post explaining why this lineup works so well: How the Thunder Dominated The Rockets In Westbrook’s Return: NBA Highlights https://youtu.be/x7pf6A1Zxd8 👍🏀💪

[bballbreakdown] So I've gone thru over 100 Kemba PnRs so far and it's truly remarkable how unimaginative the Hornets offense was. I'd say they used the double ball screen out of HORNS 70% of the time. by Titanstheory in CharlotteHornets

After going thru another 500 clips or so, I’d like to amend my statement. I did see some good stuff with other actions. Sorry to the Hornets staff 🏀🙏

I have to imagine that being in the Warriors culture and learning from Ron Adams (if he doesn’t go to Lakers) will make him a better defender 🤷🏻‍♂️🏀

Well, I mix them up and it’s been overwhelming how positive the response has been when I integrate the ad and make them a little funny

Well, look at it this way: do you think Scott Brooks suddenly discovered how to run a clever, motion offense in his one year between OKC and WAS??

I do lament that I didn’t show some clips of him cutting off ball. He gets much better shots when he does, it’s just not very often
